Kansas---Song for America and Icarus
One of the live audio mixing classes I attended many years ago used "I.G.Y." and "Green Flower Street". Check out "The Nightfly". It's brilliant from start to finish.WestGalvestonAggie said:
Steely Dan. Holy ***** Took me a while to get into them, but once it took it hit pretty hard. Donald ***en is a genius, plus Larry Carlton on guitar here...

I'm not sure I know any Steely Dan songs. What is their top one?
Reelin' in the Years is their most famous song.
Aja is at the top of the list, yes.MSFC Aggie said:Screw it....I'm overriding OP. What do you think.....Aja? I say Aja...Aust Ag said:Good thing you exempted the Dan, or we'd have a dust-up.Yelnick McWawa said:
Steely Dan being exempted from this conversation.....
Fight me.
I've read in several different accounts that the guys running the sound boards for rock bands in the late 70's/early 80's would put on Aja or Gaucho to set up the EQ in the arenas.
EDIT: Of course....Aja is definitely no pop song

Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac
Great song. It and their bigger hit are two of the best of the 80s.G Martin 87 said:
I've always thought Simple Minds' "Alive and Kicking" was the best technically produced pop song of the '80s. It's truly superb.

I'm a huge fan of the production on "All the Things She Said" too.double aught said:Great song. It and their bigger hit are two of the best of the 80s.G Martin 87 said:

Never cared for the original, but I really liked their unplugged version along w/ The Sun Always Shines on TV.Tanya 93 said:

Both of these are in my "Reference Tracks" playlist for performing live sound checks. The bridge from 3:29 to 4:00 on "Alive and Kicking" is perfect for checking bass, drums, and backing vocals, for example.
Has anyone mentioned "Owner of a Lonely Heart" yet? (That's also one of my favorite reference tracks.)

Just trying to understand why you're so upset about something that seems made up. Could you share the rest of the top 5 that this impressive Toto classic beat out?
The fact that you think anyone is upset or feeling any sort of emotion about this (other than confusion about why you feel the need to be a dick all the time) is pretty astounding.
"Fight me" is a pretty common trope as far as online discussions are concerned.
Maybe switch to Sanka.
Express is a noted moron. Best to utilize the ignore function.

Good ol express. Comfortably smug. Often wrong. But comfortably smug.
It was only two years ago that I learned those 'spaceships' on the cover are just upside-down guitars.Electrical_Ag said:
