When are votes due?
I'll probably keep this round open until sometime Tuesday afternoon mostly because I really won't have the time set up the next round until then.
Quite a few close races which is not all that surprising considering the results of the preliminary rounds. A couple of what I would consider real upsets are in the making. No scene has received 100% of the vote not even "Ride of the Valkyries" from Apocalypse Now. The highest percentage of the vote at this point belongs to the two scenes from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Friendly reminder that it's "Best Use of Classical Music in Film" and not "My Favorite Film That Just Happens to Use Classical Music in a Cool Scene". Give all the entries a chance.
That said...Die Hard is up there with 2001. And Truman Show just because I think the music goes really well with the particular scene. Sucks it got a tough matchup so early.
Only one 2001 scene now has the highest percentage of the vote, Apocalypse Now is now in the 2nd spot. A number of really close contest. Two 11 or lower seeds are currently winning (both pleasant surprises for me) and two more are either tied or within a single vote.
Friendly reminder that it's "Best Use of Classical Music in Film" and not "My Favorite Film That Just Happens to Use Classical Music in a Cool Scene". Give all the entries a chance.
I'm sure most of these is just people voting for their favorite movie.

Not so fast, at least in this round it appears at least a few folks are giving the nod to scenes in comparatively far less popular films.
There were four ties, since I did not vote I used myself as the tie breaker, In three of the cases I voted for the scene that was enhanced the most by the music. The exception was The Scent of a Woman (Tango) vs Barry Lyndon (Game). I love that scene, it made the movie IMO. I guess I'm just not artsy enough to vote for a film that is as fun to watch as paint drying even if that paint is drying on a masterpiece.

Travesty.
Both pieces of music fit their respective scenes perfectly but the tremendous scene from the little known film beats the good scene from the popular one.

One of the most iconic movie openings of all time.
Absolutely Shawshank over that opening. Andy's act of rebellion was also an attempt to remind his friends and fellow inmates that their dignity, nobility, and humanity could not be taken from them. It is an essential plot point of the movie. The scene would have less impact if Andy had played Your Cheatin' Heart, Fly Me to the Moon, or some other popular tune of the day. It had to be opera. It's a brilliant scene and use of classical music. (Which is what the poll is about, not "most iconic movie openings.") 2001's opening got a tough draw.
