First off, 9 crappy songs? How dare you! Sound & Fury masterpiece level to me. Album of the year last year.
That was my least favorite song on the album, but different strokes i supposePhilo B 93 said:Jim01 said:

I'll give it another try. I didn't mean to insult you, personally. I was really trying to express how much I like the song Mercury in Retrograde. It really stood out on that album to me.

Are all of these Sturgill songs or does he cover other artist? I recognize the majority are his but some I'm not sure

A few ("I Don't Mind" is one song) are from a band I'd never heard of called Sunday Valley. Sturgill was their front man and he's got the songwriting credit on every song from the album.

Man, I love me some Sturgill Simpson. This new album is fantastic. All y'all who went running after Sound & Fury can come on back into the fold now. And while you're at it, try Sound & Fury again, because it's awesome.

Because I value the opinions of the Ent Board.... I went back and gave Sound & Fury another try. Glad I did. I didn't try to take the whole thing down at once. I downloaded "remember to breathe", "ronin" and "singalong". Wow! Great songs when you listen in the right frame of mind. Those songs, with many of his others, will be on my playlist for life. I'll try a few more from S&F, but I call it a huge win to find 3 or 4 great songs an any album.
Agree with this. I think it is best taken as a whole rather than in partsCenterHillAg said:
For me, Sound & Fury is an album I take the time to listen to in it's entirety, or listen to something else. It's just one of those that has to be taken in altogether to truly appreciate it.
