When this comes down to Die Hard or Christmas Vacation... I am going to curl up into a ball and just cry from indecision.

It is the first time I've been surprised by the eventual winner of any of these movie brackets we've been doing on this board this year.. Christmas Vacation is a fun albeit silly movie and I understand why people enjoy it but the best or your go to holiday movie?

It's a movie that appeals to everyone even if it's not everybody's #1.

You know we've reached peak bracketing when you're scrolling through the list and notice that Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is matched up against Band of Brothers. I mean, who didn't see that coming?

Using this criteria I would think Home Alone would have won. Christmas Vacation is certainly not as decisive as Elf or A Christmas Story where folks either love it or hate it but then who hates A Charlie Brown Christmas? Bitter Die Hard fans I bet.

Christmas Vacation has adult humor. Home Alone and all those animated specials are for kids. The reason A Charlie Brown Christmas made it as far as it did is because it's writing is more mature, but it's still a cartoon. Because of that, there's people that won't vote for it. Some won't vote for Die Hard because many think it's not a Christmas movie. For a message board where 90% of the posters are between 30-60, A Christmas Vacation was almost a lock.

If you don't at least get teary when Marley reunites with his granddaughter at the end of Home Alone, no matter your age, you are dead inside.

Same here. It will probably be one we watch every year now. It's really good.
