Besides Forrest Gump, what has Hanks done that is truly special?

I don't know why they call it a "Female Western," when it apparently features only one, true female lead (Jolie)...

HHW and Wind River are both tremendous movies. Buddy of mine recommended both a few years ago. I had somehow missed them, too.

Wind River and Hostiles were two of my favorite movies that year. Both went pretty unsung, but are haunting and amazing movies.

Both of the endings just stick with you a while.

It's been around awhile but could be considered modern western. MM, Kristofferson, and Chris Cooper are all really good in it.

I like Lone Star a lot, it's a slow burn. I'm guessing the incest plotline is why It never seems to be on TV.


Silverado is probably my favorite 'modern' western.

Another one for liking this movie over No Country. Loved it.

And I'm in on the Jolie movie. When was the last time she really did anything of note?

Sidebar: saw some of Mr. and Mrs. Smith the other night. FFS she was so hot in that movie. Peak Jolie. Forgot how unbelievably beautiful she was/is.

Whole movie is great but my favorite scene is when they help recover the stolen money:

Best actor is different from best career (speaking to the Bridges posts on the thread).

I'm skimming this thread while I watch Big Lebowski tonight and while Bridges is great, he was rewarded with an Oscar. All I can think of while I watch is how underrated John Goodman is, though he's still relatively well rated. His range across the various roles he has played is incredible. Appears he has an Emmy as a guest actor but he derseves more.
