Pat Benatar almost got in last year and not even on the list this year. Look for a go go's push. There was the documentary last year and that usually leads to induction.

DMB was #1 in fan vote and not on list this year....

None of these people should get in if The Replacements aren't in.

This list is just ridiculous when you consider these bands that are not in..

Bad Company
Ozzy Osbourne
Judas Priest
Jethro Tull
Soundgarden
The Black Crowes
Motley Crue
Kansas
Foreigner
Boston

On the list, I like

Foo
Maiden
RatM
The RRHOF doesn't actually care much for Rock. It has a surprising number of bands/entertainers that have nothing to do with rock at all, like Miles Davis.

I realize this. And it's dumb.

ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME

Without Boston? Seriously. Boston is not in and they want to nominate the New York ****ing Dolls.

What sense does that make? Same for all the others on the list that aren't in.

Boston should be in, and so should the New York Dolls.

The "Rock and Roll" Hall of Shame is just that. Shameful. It has zero cred to anyone who knows how these "things" work.

Iron Maiden, the New York Dolls, and Todd Rundgren are the only rock and rollers on that short list.

Cue the old dickinson quotes.

" I actually think the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is an utter and complete load of bollocks, to be honest with you," said the singer. "It's run by a bunch of sanctimonious bloody Americans who wouldn't know rock 'n' roll if it hit them in the face. They need to stop taking Prozac and start drinking ****ing beer."

"I'm really happy we're not there and I would never want to be there. If we're ever inducted, I will refuse they won't bloody be having my corpse in there. Rock 'n' roll music does not belong in a mausoleum in Cleveland. It's a living, breathing thing, and if you put it in a museum, then it's dead. It's worse than horrible, it's vulgar."

I weirdly couldn't tell you one song by Iron Maiden. I have no idea if I've ever even heard one of their songs. I assume I have. Just never really listened to them growing up for some reason and they weren't ever that big on MTV from what I remember.

It's like there is a void in my memory where IM should have been. Especially considering my age.

I'm not a huge fan, but "Run To The Hills" is the one you'd be most likely to have heard somewhere along the way.

I'd be surprised if you haven't heard some

Run to the Hills
The Trooper
2 Minutes to Midnight
Hallowed be Thy Name
Can I play with Madness

But I'm sure they are not recognizable just by name alone really if you don't already know them by name.

Certainly would not have been on any mainstream pop stations but if you listened to any real rock/AOR stations in the 80s to early 90s you had to have heard them.

They never had any huge hits and didn't get a lot of play on MTV or day time radio. They were one of those bands that had a cult following, but you had to actively seek out to hear. They never crossed over into mainstream like Metallica or Black Sabbath.

Wasted Years had a decent video and got some MTV time.

Mostly though they did what they wanted and never really went after mainstream success. They continue to sell out stadiums world-wide pre-COVID.

Run to the hills and 2 minutes to midnight sound familiar. I'm certain I know the former.

I had to have heard them on Headbangers Ball at least. Anyway just weird I don't know them well.

I'm a huge metal head and really don't them that well either.
I think because I got into metal in the 90s, they were kind of dead during that era (and no Bruce). I absolutely knew their name and run to the hills because of the homage on Metallica garage days and beavis and butthead.
But I was in the metal scene so anyone I knew pretty much loved them. At the time, I didn't appreciate Bruce's voice.

Then as metal had resurgence in 2000s and they became active again, and with Sirius/xm, now I hear them all the time.

Just started getting into Iron Maiden within the last 5-6 years, and I feel deprived not having the radio stations play them growing up. During the 90s in Houston, KLOL, I remember hearing Run to the Hills and The Trooper. When I got to CS in 1996, I listened to 92.1 KTSR religiously for the next 7 years and barely heard Iron Maiden as well.

Now thanks to Sirius and Spotify, they are now one of my favorite bands. Those albums of the 80s are absolutely stellar. I'm still learning their catalog

I am not a fan of Book of Souls- I feel like it needed some editing. But the rest of the post 2000 stuff is pretty awesome overall.

I remember in college when last resort by papa roach came out, and I was talking to my high school buddy who was a big IM fan.. and I remember he said 'that song totally ripped off Iron Maiden'. I specifically remember asking 'which one?' and he replied, 'All of them!'

To this day I remember that, and he's right. That riff sounds like it came directly from IM.. several songs lol. That Em riffing is very much a part of their sound.

I also remember, the one and only time I snuck into Woodlands Pavillion. Year 2000, before they did their huge expansion along the back of the lawn. Buddy and I climbed up the 'back' of the hill, there was a fence, at it was adjacent to a concession stand. Climbed up fence, hopped on top of concession, then a short jump down to be on the back of the lawn lol.

It was Iron Maiden, brave new world tour. I make my way to front of lawn, and I run into my good friend, probably the biggest IM fan I knew. He was elated to see I was there hah, since he knew I never really gave them a chance or got into them. Lots of air guitar ensued.

who?

lead singer before Dickinson was Paul Di'Anno. Not aware of an Eddie. If it was before Paul it was before their first album.

I didn't like Book Of Souls either. Ive only listened to it like once or twice, so I'll have to give it another shot. But that your was the first time I saw them live and was still blown away. Got to see them once again in 2019 on the Legend of the Beast tour and that was definitely a top 2-3 show for me. My god they are absolutely amazing live!!

Oh..... lol.

Was thinking of the "band".... yeah that's a stretch. No fictional cartoon character is part of the band. Sorry. Now if you want to induct the artist who created it.... maybe.
