For me it's Daniel / Mrs Doutbfire having to go back and forth between the two tables at the restaurant.

Gives me anxiety every time.

The climb in Free Solo

Probably not in the spirit of the thread (good thread btw) since it's a doc. But I have never sweated or been that anxious in a theater... and I knew he made it!

I'm going to have to think about it a bit more but this might be my answer...and I watched it after I knew the result. What that guy does is simply insane.

The opening scene to Inglorious Basterds. I get anxiety just thinking about those two dudes sitting there drinking milk.

If I had to pick a scene from that movie it would actually be when she sees him again at the restaurant. The fear of being recognized, trying to conceal she knows him, hiding her emotions over what he did etc.

I would add Se7en and what's in the box, as well as the scene in the dark in Silence of the Lambs.

Depth charges in Das Boot and U-571.
Night vision googles in Silence of the Lambs
The death of William Wallace
The burning of the church in The Patriot
Seeing the kids be tucked into bed in Titanic
The ending of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
The Dirty Sock

For some reason the entire scene inside the actual safe house in "Safe House" has me on the edge of my seat every time. Between scrambling the CIA team to waterboarding to the terrorists systematically eliminating everyone... Yeesh.

And I would pick the scene in the underground bar. Take all of the stress from the those two and add a dash of claustrophobia for good measure. Some really fantastic scenes in that movie.

How about the ending sequence in Mission Impossible: Fallout? Not exactly subtle, but I don't think I've had sweatier palms watching a movie.

My brain is so clouded with scenes from Game of Thrones and the Lost rewatch, it is hard to remember stressful scenes from movies beyond the ones mentioned

I'd say the 24 hour ultimatum in Darkest Hour. Churchill had to either persuade a war timid parliament into fighting it out with Nazi Germany and face invasion or negotiate an unfavorable peace with Hitler dooming Western Europe in the process.

Quote:

Sister Christian/Jessie's Girl scene in Boogie Nights.

Great call. The building music, the dude throwing fireworks, Thomas Jane high & crazy, and Dirk Diggler knowing he shouldn't be there and bad crap about to go down.

For me, this one is more relatable than the scenes in Inglorious Basterds & that makes it more stressful.
I've been in some situations accidentally where hard drugs & sketchy people were present and it is not a good feeling at all.

Another stressful scene for me was in "Training Day".
Ethan Hawke's character is held at gunpoint & dragged to the bathroom to be executed in the bathtub.
Holy Sh*t that one is freaky.

Lots of stress in that movie.

Two different kinds of stress..

INTENSE
Act of Valor - First scene when they are escaping in the jeep. First time I watched it was by myself so the sound was cranked up. When the hit the water and the boats arrive with the Gatling guns, my heart was thumping.

EMOTIONAL
Slumdog Millionaire - I have been to India several times working with orphans. Every moment in the movie where they hurt a kid or when they scar Lattika's face, I have a moment.
