Surely this isn't actually aimed at children. It's one thing to make an animated movie 50 years ago about talking dogs trying to avoid being turned into coats...

This is something else, entirely.

Also, my favorite part of the whole 101 dalmations story (which I recently watched with my kids) was that the married couple originally agreed to sell the litter of puppies to Cruella. Then the dad made a killing on a hit single he wrote about how horrible she was.

I have 10 and 12 year old daughters and a boat load of disposable income. Disney couldn't ask for a better target audience for this movie than my family.

But I literally have no effing clue what the hell this is about. Damn Disney. Pull your head out.

Most people don't want the plots of movies spelled out to them in the trailers.

Joker worked because it's a dark ass movie about a troubled soul's descent into absolute madness and eventually becoming a mass murderer. It worked because they weren't under any constraints from the studio and Phillips could make a really effed up movie.

How does this work as a Disney product? There's no way they can make this edgy, gritty, or even interesting. Like someone said, who is this being made for?

Someone mentioned Pinocchio, and you'd be surprised how truly dark most kid's stories and fairy tales are if you really stopped to think about it.

Peter Pan (also mentioned above), Bambi, The Lion King, Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel...
