Geez tough crowd.

Yeah when the Wilbury's were doing their thing, I was 14. Guys like Dylan, Harrison, Lynde, and especially Orbison seemed old as hell.

Now, I find that I'm 10% older than the average age of the Traveling Wilbury's.

I figured guys my age could relate. Those of you responding with "who?" aren't ever allowed to participate in threads about rock ever again.

Yep, me too. Holy cow. I was 20 in 1988 and just like the OP if you would've asked me in '88 how old these guys were, I would've said 60's or 70's. This really is stunning. I'm 52, so same as Roy Orbison was in the pic. I refuse to accept that reality.

I get this. They were old as hell in '88, but not really. I'm 46 now and it is amazing to me how not old these guys were.

Something else that is crazy, and not really music related, is to look at the ages of professional athletes. They were so old when I was a kid. Now they are young enough to BE my kids!

You youngsters will get it in a few years.

I was 9 years old then and now older than Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne were in 1988. I don't think I knew who Lynne was, but I did know the rest and they seemed ancient.

This photo was taken 33 years ago. In 1988, 33 years prior, Rock Around the Clock debuted. Kids think of Axle Rose and Slash the same way I thought of Elvis and Chuck Berry.

This is a really confusing post. "Some guys who are old now were a lot less old 30 years ago." I guess you had to be there.





Also some of you f***ers are old now. Sorry dudes. Hanging on to youth by my fingernails as I realize that mid-30s is a term that applies to me.

Yep. I vividly remember the first time I realized that there was a player in the NFL who was younger than me. Now it's the coaches etc.
What's really a kick in the shorts is now I'm seeing the SONS of some of the players from 'my day' getting drafted. Make it stop.

All the other people on MTV were in their 20s and these dude were ancient.

There's a lot that blows your mind when you get old.

If Marty McFly went back to the future from 2021, he'd be going back to 1991.

Stand By Me was made in 1986. It flashed back to 1959. There's more time past from today to 1986 than 1986 to 1959.

I do have to say, I respect the attire of aging rock stars from the first earlier generations of rock.

Whenever I see pics of someone from Motely Crue/80s bands or even aerosmith, all I can really do is chuckle at the effort put into to hanging onto their look from decades earlier, just to be certain they still look like a rock star.




Look at those Wilburys. Like a group of dad's at a kid's bday party in the burbs.
