Chris Cornell's cover of Nothing Compares 2 U.

and for some reason Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know". I really don't.know why on that one. I think it is the key and the buildup.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Ronan - Taylor Swift

She wrote the song for a family who lost their 4 year old kid to childhood cancer... she listed the parents as co-writers and co-producers so they get all the royalties from the song. If you've ever lost a child or someone you know who's young this song may be difficult to hear.

Soon You'll Get Better - Taylor Swift

This one Taylor wrote about her mother who's battling cancer. The lyrics are strong and can put anyone who's had to deal with a family member or friend fighting cancer in tears.

This song is about an old man who lost his wife of over 50 years. He's updating her on life and the grandkids. I love the lyrics and storytelling of this song!

Love your mom or miss your mom, either way this song will kill you

REK's Feelin Good Again - weird one because it's a happy one. (I've had many a philosophical debates over a pitcher or two about whether the song is about a dream or heaven.) Bonfire messed me up pretty good mentally, like someone else said in an earlier post, I was fighting depression but too young and naive to realize it. This one always chokes me up because it takes me back that feeling of finally regaining some normalcy.

I have twin 9-year-old daughters. I can't make it through this song dry-eyed. Since the first time I heard it, maybe 5-6 years ago, I make it my mantra that no matter how busy I am, they always come first because I know that day is coming eventually where I can't call their name and give them a big hug whenever I want to.

The fact that Chapman lost one of his young daughters in a terrible accident at his own home makes it hard to understand how God works some times.

This is the one that got me. My girl is only a toddler but this had me getting teary eyed. Great song

Pearl Jam - Just Breathe

For my grandma who raised me. She was on life support and we made the decision to stop it. The sound of the equipment breathing for her has stayed with me for 14 years. All i could do is rub her feet because they were so cold and bundle them up in the blanket as she passed.

Nothing you would take
Everything you gave
Hold me till I die
Meet you on the other side

My grandfather Texas A&M '50 passed away a couple of weeks ago at the age of 95 and my buddy sent me this one and said he was listening to it in his honor. PJ is my second favorite band of all time and it wrecked me. For some reason I always thought it was on the album "Riot Act" and didn't realize it was made for Tim Burton's film "Big Fish" that I've never seen.

edit: Interestingly now in reading through the comments on this video so many are like mine above.

I always felt like this song was somehow a companion piece to the other.

For my son. My wife and I fought infertility for 10 years and God finally blessed us with a child. I lose it every time I listen to this song.

I'll be the villain and you be the hero
And save the day the way that you saved me

I just discovered "Till Forever Falls Apart" by Ashe. My God these lyrics accompanied by the timing of the music, notes, and beat are absolutely destructive.

If the tide takes California
I'm so glad I got to hold ya
And if the sky falls from heaven above
Oh, I know I had the best time falling into love
We've been living on a fault line
And for a while, you were all mine
I've spent a lifetime giving you my heart
I swear that I'll be yours forever
'Til forever falls apart
'Til forever falls apart

I can listen to that part over and over and over.

Not to get too religious, but the imagery of Belly of the Deepest Love gets me everytime:

To flip it 180, Illenium of all "artist" to tug on some losses in my life:

And for those hard days, to contextualize the significance of the insignificance?

I have a daughter, so obviously Ben Folds - Gracie. And you can tack on Brick, Fred Jones Pt. 2, Landed and Evaporated for the feels from Ben.
