Getting older and raising a family, ugly kid Joe's version of cats in the cradle gets me. Makes me appreciate time with my kids.

Gets me every time I hear it...
that was a great show! I remember when it came out on HBO, I recorded it on VHS, and watched it over and over.

If I hear the soundtrack to Forrest Gump's arrangement or Cast Away's theme song, all by Alan Silvestri, it always gets me...

This one is right up there with Edmund Fitzgerald but obscure. It captures "Young Men and Fire" a lesser-known (true) book by the Norman McLean who wrote "A River Runs Through It." I raised my kids in Montana and there is certainly a bit of nostalgia involved when I infrequently hear it and I guess that is about as personal as it gets.

To get away from country, February Scars always got me.

It came out right about the same time, while I was in college, that one of my friend's younger brother died. He was my friend too.

He was one of those guys that was super shy when he was young, but was just outrageous in highschool.

Died in a car wreck on the way to school.

The transition from slow pain to angry grief is just so raw to me.

It takes a special kind of brainwashed useful idiot to politically defend government fraud, waste, and abuse.

Kinda shocked nobody's mentioned this one. A friend mine said something like "Warren Zevon can tell a better story in 3 minutes than most best selling authors can tell in 300 pages" and that's a true damn thing.

"If I leave you, it doesn't mean I love you any less" just kills me. To write a song like this while dying and knowing it's going on your last album...that's devastating.

Amazing Grace

My then girlfriend, now wife, dad was diagnosed with brain cancer her senior year at A&M. Throughout his 10 month battle, amazing grace was his favorite hymn to play in the rough moments. The night he passed, we were gathered around him with a Christian radio station playing softly in the background. Coincidentally, Amazing Grace came on the station and it was the last thing he heard as he took his last breath to it. Good lord definitely gave us that treat.

I have twin 9-year-old daughters. I can't make it through this song dry-eyed. Since the first time I heard it, maybe 5-6 years ago, I make it my mantra that no matter how busy I am, they always come first because I know that day is coming eventually where I can't call their name and give them a big hug whenever I want to.

The fact that Chapman lost one of his young daughters in a terrible accident at his own home makes it hard to understand how God works some times.

For the greatest Papaw ever.

For my oldest boy who has done several tours and will probably do more before he's done. "Son, you make me proud". No doubt.

Every year at Christmas the wife loves to play KSBJ here in the Houston area for the Christmas music. Lost my mom in 2011, and for the next several Christmas seasons, every time this ****ng song played, I really did lose it.

I know it's corny as hell, but "At Last I See the Light" from Tangled chokes me up. My 5-year-old daughter has loved that movie since she was a toddler. She loves to sing that song with me. Struggles with getting her conceived, getting her into this world, and the 50 days in the NICU after her birth basically mean I'm an emotional puddle in most anything that she and I share.

Boy2Men - so hard to say goodbye.

Before she transferred, I knew Eliza in HS; one of the four girls from the Austin Yogurt Shop murders. Whole town dedicated that song to them. To this day, especially with a young teenage daughter.

(I cry like a baby every time)

And my moms favorite song

And another that my mom said I'd appreciate one day when I was a dad

(She was right)

Baby Blue by George Straight - because it was a tribute to his 13 year old daughter who passed in a car accident in 1986

"Love without end, Amen" also because it's about being a daddy

"Then they do" by Trace Adkins

"Holes in the Floor of Heaven"

Yeah... I love my kids and love being a daddy

Heartland - I loved her first

My daughter picked that song for us to dance to at her wedding. Can still bring a tear to my eye just thinking about it.

Was definitely an - I'm not crying, you're crying - moment for me.

Does this one round-out the trifecta for your mom? It's a tough one for me to get through.......

Wow, not sure how I forgot about this one. Was playing it for my 6 year old girl last year and couldn't make it through it.

"Sunshine on my Shoulder makes me Happy" - makes me happy

But yeah, for this one I can see how someone's life events could turn this into a nostalgic melancholy song.

This is the one for me. I heard this song about 10 years ago when my daughter was 6 and told myself this is the Dad-Daughter song for her wedding. The older she gets, the harder it is to listen to.

This is top of list for me. One of, if not the best, setups for a scene and song in TV history. Certainly tops in the dramedy category of TV. I still tear up everytime I watch this episode and listen to this song independently and think of this storyline.

It has less of an impact on me emotionally because it ended up getting overplayed back in the day, but How to Save a Life can still get to me. Also used to tie up a pivotal Dr. Cox centric storyline on scrubs.

A few of mine have already been listed but the one that gets me the most is the national anthem, specifically played at Kyle Field. Something about coming from an immigrant family to the land of the free and being the first college grad in my entire family really gets me. I get that lump in my throat and can't sing past "and the rockets red glare" before I shed a tear. I'm grateful for all this country has offered my family and me and I'm proud to be an American. We have now graduated four Aggies and have three there.

Others mentioned that get to me especially being a dad are Heartland - I Loved Her First and Darius Rucker - It Won't Be Like This for Long

The Walk - Sawyer Brown

It came out about the time my grandfather went into the nursing home. It makes me think about my own father who is now 85, but thankfully still able to live at home.

I can't listen to this song without crying.

You won't hear it on the radio, but the theme to lonesome dove will have me in tears every time ever since my dad passed away. that was our go to movie. Lord only knows how many times we watched that on a Saturday or Sunday morning together. Or as I got older how many times he would tell me "don't mind doing little work to pay for your breakfast do ya?. Yet I will still play it from time to time to remember the good ol times.

The "song" that is played at Kyle as the teams entrance song. Not kill, but is of grave concern...racist and laced with profanity.

Cleary that genius either didn't care or didn't do his homework. Of more concern is that it still exists.
