Haven't listened through the entire album super closely yet, but when Jail started, and with it being the 1st real song on the album, I got super excited. Thought we had another MBDTF. Next 5 or 6 I listened to where just meh for Kanye standards unfortunately.
My exact thoughts. Could've a used another week of sequencing and post-prod editing, but Universal was understandably fed up.

Also for what it's worth, I'm using this as the New Music 2021 thread because I don't think anyone started one this year. That one poster who was arguing about semantics of what OP's thread is supposed to be about is dumb AF. We need a music thread and this is it.

Loving the new album from Sean McConnell. Incredible songwriter.

Been spinning the CHVRCHES and Billie Eilish all day and really enjoying them both.

CHVRCHES is catching as hell as usual.

Billie is great moody/chill music. This release really shines that maybe Finneas is the real star. Billie's voice and lyrics are great, but damn the production and engineering by Finneas is such a lush and amazing foundation that it's hard to screw it up over top of that.

Next week I'm looking forward to new Kacey Musgraves and finally getting my Modest Mouse vinyl.

Of the two new Kacey songs, I only liked one of them. She's rock solid, so hoping the album is as good as the last couple.

Wow... what a crappy post. A fellow Ag starts a thread on the Entertainment board wanting to discuss new albums and your first post is to trash him because his question doesn't conform to your opinion of "new music?"

As for the OP, how far back are we going to call it "new music"? Are we saying within last month or two, sometime in 2021, or the last 5 years?

Doesn't matter to me. Usually it's anything released in the calendar year when we do these, but I'm cool with anything new to you.

Speaking of, people on here talking about the most-hype album in the last bit probably don't realize Ye released his first in 2003, so Donda definitely isn't new music. /s/

On Donda, I don't know if it's because I'm a massive fan or because my mood was in the right spot, but I've had the album on rotation today and it's hitting the right spot. Too early to dub anything a classic. MTDF might be an exclusion to that rule, but I remember people hating 808s and I think that album has proven to be a genre changer. I'm not going to sit here and say that this is a classic, but I actually like how underproduced it is. I think it's going to age very well.

Also, it's a massive beast of an album. I don't think anyone can go 27/27, but there's enough here to make me want to listen to all 27 several times, and that's saying something.

I saw Mammoth WVH last night. I thought they were pretty good. Prior to the concert I hadn't listened to their (or should I say his since WVH played all instruments on the album) music.

Mostly agree. 27 is a lot but I'm never bored while listening to it from front to back. But at the same time can't shake the wondering what it would have been like to just trim it down to 14-15 and focus the energy on that. Specifically the last 4 tracks, all the "pt 2" songs, seem needless. At least after two listens I don't really hear much of a discernable difference between them and their part 1s.

"Junya" and "Come To Life" are standouts to me.

My favorite line right now "They say Adam could never have been black, cus a black man never share his rib." lol

I think "Hurricane" is a hit.

Had low expectations for Donda, and I think it's not bad. It's long. Like y'all, I would probably cut the "Pt 2s".

Some good stuff. So far, I'm digging, Hurricane, Off The Grid, Jail, Junya.

Picked up the vinyl of Halsey's "If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power" mainly because of such a big NIN fan. It's a good album. Will have to give it a few more spins but it's definitely worth the time.

I went with the Target exclusive white vinyl, which also has a slightly more appropriate cover art to hang on the wall.

Love Haley Reinhart's voice.

To this day, Postmodern Jukebox's cover of Creep, featuring Haley singing is the best cover of any song I have ever seen.

My Morning Jacket's new album, self-titled My Morning Jacket, pretty great first listen through, one of their more rocking albums since It Still Moves or Z.
