Haven't done a new music thread in a while.

Modest Mouse is back after 6 years off, and whatever they did with the time away, it worked. This song ripppppppps.



For something completely different, try on Backxwash and Ada Rock. How do you describe this? Measure of metal, measure of rap? I don't know. I'm not going to say that this song is pleasant to listen to. It's not. It's actually pretty jacked up. But there's something about it that fascinates me, so here it is. Word to the wise, watch your headphone volume.

I'm holding off on a full listen of the new Modest Mouse until my colored vinyl arrives.

I am very intrigued by the new Halsey, produced by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. I am a huge NIN fan and can't wait to hear what the collaboration sounds like.

She just releases the cover art today and it is very interesting. Definitely not something I could hang on my wall.

Me too! Huge LH fan and have all of their albums hanging on my album wall but this one so far.

Illenium drops his fourth album "Falling Embers" on July 16th.

Once upon a time I loaded Lord Huron into MLB the show for ambiance during batting practice, and it damn near ruined Lonesome Dreams and "Ends of the Earth" for me.

New Modest Album is good stuff. Many are saying their best album since Moon, but nah.

Wooden Soldiers. Transmitting Receiving and Back to the Middle are great tracks. I always enjoy deciphering the themes he's obsessed with each album.

You need to make it to the 1:30 mark to fully experience the genius of Low.

Lord Huron was a band I discovered through the TicketMaster lawsuit a few years ago. I got free ticket credit but nothing ever came to Houston. Randomly a Lord Huron show finally appeared and the name sounded familiar so I snatched it up. Ended up the tickets came with a free CD of Vide Noir. I loved it. Have their other three albums on vinyl and loved the concert. Hopefully they come to Houston again soon.

Awesome to see so many LH fans here. I absolutely love them. I posted this in the concerts thread but I was going to go see them in New York for their upcoming fall tour, but they just added some Texas shows. So I got tix to Fort Worth, and I'm going to see Sturgill in New York instead.

No Houston show unfortunately but they're in Fort Worth Oct 22 and Austin Oct 23

Strand of Oaks released his first single off upcoming album. Very good song, sounds like it will be a little more upbeat than Eraserland which was one of my favorite albums of 2019.

Glad I saw this thread. I'm currently listening to that Modest Mouse album.

Wow, that was a journey. About halfway through I decided I was so annoyed that it was a never ending intro that just kept sounding worse and worse, but then the second half was like, some kind One Oh Trix Point Never situation? that I kind of got lulled into liking. I'll be interested to check some more of these folks.

hello fellow old person. Thanks for starting a "new music" thread about a band releasing an album 20+ years after they broke onto the scene. Yes, I do like Modest Mouse. Hey did you also know that another band from 2001 has a new album, The Strokes? It was a real banger. Still waiting for the "new" stuff from Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, and Jack White. Everyone knows that musicians make their best music in their 40s.

DONDA finally came out. Whatever excitement I had for it faded a few weeks ago, but can confirm that both "Jail" and "No Child Left Behind" are both excellent. Same feeling musically as MBDTF and (the good parts of) TLOP.

Wow... what a crappy post. A fellow Ag starts a thread on the Entertainment board wanting to discuss new albums and your first post is to trash him because his question doesn't conform to your opinion of "new music?"

As for the OP, how far back are we going to call it "new music"? Are we saying within last month or two, sometime in 2021, or the last 5 years?

Good, wholesome family oriented operatic/symphonic metal. Human voices the way they are meant to be.

Whatever is in the water over in Sweden needs to be imported here.

Haven't listened through the entire album super closely yet, but when Jail started, and with it being the 1st real song on the album, I got super excited. Thought we had another MBDTF. Next 5 or 6 I listened to where just meh for Kanye standards unfortunately.

I gave it one full listen yesterday. There is some good stuff on there but it is so long and the songs don't necessarily differ enough from one to the next to have any really have stood out to me.

Just got a couple indie color variant vinyls in the mail yesterday so that will be my playlist today:
