Watched '1978' last night. It's been a long, long time since I read the books but I really do feel like these movies have captured the spirit of them. Formulaic, and not really scary but a good enough story and good enough acting to keep you enjoying the nostalgia.

Seemed a bit over-dramatic to have the big reveal be that the narrator was Ziggy instead of the older sister, as it's not like that really changed anything.

I have been a bit surprised at just how brutal the show can be though. Even for a cookie-cutter slasher film, the axing at the end was harsher than anything you saw back in the 80s heyday. Doesn't hurt the film in the least, just seems like the movie is moving along on a Goosebumps/StrangerThings gore level and then it suddenly ramps up to Rob Zombie Halloween in an instant.

Looking forward to the next installment.

Easy with the spoilers for those who haven't seen the trilogy. Turns out, there were all pretty good. It'd be neat now that we know the story to watch all three again and see how well it all meshes.

We finished 1666 this last weekend.

Trilogy certainly isn't groundbreaking but I thought it was a lot of fun and much more than I was expecting.

It was better as a trilogy than individual movies. It's good they released them so close together because I doubt I'd seen 1978 or 1666 if they were two years apart.

Wife and I watched the whole trilogy this weekend. Definitely enjoyable as a whole, with a lot of good nods to past horror movies and a great soundtrack. Was a bit surprised at the level of gore, considering those books were always marketed for a teenage population, but then again, I never read any of the Fear Street novels (was more of an age for Goosebumps when Stine was huge), so can't really speak to if it fits with their theme.

Bumping because I finally got around to watching these. Nothing to add that hasn't been said really, but I definitely enjoyed them a LOT more than I thought I would. Had some interesting concepts and the level of gore was a nice surprise.
