If we want to include animated shows.

In order of best:

Code Geass: Let's be honest this was the end that most wanted from Death Note, but Code Geass pulled it off in a perfect way(especially if you believe Lelouch survived). I think this my favorite ending in any story medium anywhere.

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood: Not much to say here other than that's it's really awesome to see the wall of pictures showing the brothers' happy lives afterwards. They really deserved it.

Cowboy Bebop:

I know it's popular to hate on Big Bang Theory but they did a really good finale.

Still have not watched it because I bailed 2-3 seasons before it ended. But I probably will watch the finale at some point.

Scrubs.

Whether the best final episode or not I couldn't say but hard to imagine any show having a better dismount.

Look I love scrubs and thought this send off was great, but season 9 does exist. So how can you credit this as a finale.

If that's the status can I consider all of the Office post Michael Scott leaving as a different show?

If you're doing this with scrubs why not just consider the finale as the last episode of the season before your favorite show should've called it quits?

The fact they ended it is good enough for me

On the animated front, Rebels' final and epilogue were phenomenal.

Ditto with Justice League Unlimited, especially having Batman being the last one in frame.

Bruce Almighty

For animation, Futurama. Also, when The Simpsons decides to end, it may be the most watched tv episode of all time.

Clone War season 7 was also awesome. From the escape from the Devestator, to burying the clone troopers and lightsabers to Vader finding said lightsaber.

I think it's different. As I understand it, the episode was written, directed, and produced with everyone involved thinking it was the end of the series. The title of the episode was literally "My Finale."

I still think about that Andy Bernard quote all the time. Good stuff.

After being lost after Carell left, the last 4-5 episodes of the Office were very strong, giving characters their goodbyes, and concluding with the great finale.

It was like a whole different show. Different cast, different locations, different premise.

Most consider season 8 the final season with season 9 to be a different show.

Yep.

"Goodnight....Boss".

That whole last scene episode was great.

The last line was perfect.

Dennis Franz was amazing throughout the series. He carried that show through how many partners, bosses and costars?? He was the constant.

12 seasons, 4 Emmy's, 3 SAG, 1 GG
I've been thinking about giving it another rewatch.

Sherry Stringfield as well. I had a thing for her in her early ER days - which came right after NYPD Blue.

That Andy quote is so money, but he didn't even know it, but he did.

No but seriously, that might actually be one of the greatest TV quotes ever. I use it all the time.

The Shield

Shane's horrific murder-suicide ending.

Vic confesses to a lifetime of crime to get immunity.

Ronnie takes the fall for all of Vic's *****

Vic, completely neutered by ICE and assigned a cubicle job - 2 of his best friends dead, the other headed for prison, his family having left him - gets his side arm and heads out into the night for what end nobody knows.

Beautifully done sir.
