Tom's a great actor, and tbh Scientology is only a bit more insane than the drivel your average Hollywood talent believes and promotes.

This could be true. However, just because he's tight with Miscavige doesn't mean he's aware of everything Miscavige. Does your mom know EVERYTHING about you? I assume not even though you are tight with her. Now imagine you were doing illegal shady stuff. You'd be even less likely to tell her that.

No but I imagine that if my wife hadn't been seen for years my mom would start to ask questions. The reality is people that are passionate, and I mean truly passionate, about something can justify any kind of atrocity if they think they are done for the better good.
