Not always. There are direct flights out of Maui for sure to the mainland. Not sure about other islands but I thought I saw something about direct flights to The Big Island recently.
EDIT - yeah looked it up and also Kauai has direct flights now.

Another really good episode.
I watched it critically tonight for why I was enjoying it, and oddly I think the music plays a big part. It's just perfectly accentuates the mood and the scenery, while making it all feel unique.
Beyond that there is something real in all of the characters. Coolidge's last scene tonight with the onion was awesome, as was uncle Rico's response.
Really looking forward to the finale.

This show is absolutely bonkers. Love it. Mike White's been doing bonkers **** for awhile, but he really found his lane here. Enlightened was an underrated show, way before it's time, but this one hits the niche HBOMAX is going for rn.
The music is incredible. Some of the best I've ever heard on a show in regards to building mood, setting tone, causing anxiety, etc

Best episode of the season so far, IMO, in a season full of great episodes. Just so damn good.
Will also echo how fantastic the music is, as I was thinking that more than ever throughout this episode. From the opening credits theme, which is really starting to feel like a potential all-timer, almost up there with the Succession theme in terms of recent scores, to the more subtle/emotional queues tonight in the more dramatic moments, it really is one of the best TV scores in a long time.
Can't wait for the finale next week, which looks incredible, which I also noticed was referred to as the "season" finale, hopefully hinting at an announcement soon.

i am starting to like it. i thought it was heading for SJW land, but if you pay attention, it is actually mocking the whole idiotic movement pretty hard. hot chicks. i could do without all the dick and balls crap or naked men, but whatever.

i really don't personally like any of the characters, but that seems to actually be the point of the show.
'awkwardness' seems to be something younger audiences find to be inherently funny, but to me, there needs to be some real humor to set it up or make it something other than just awkward for awkward's sake.
'magnum pi' - light is pretty hilarious, and if there is anyone to identify with it is probably the masseuse girl or the daddario character, so i assume she is probably the one in the crate. either that or the dude's mom, who deserves a ride home in a box.

Am I the only one that hates Jennifer Coolidge's character in this show? She is running with the same persona as Legally Blonde which is 20 years old, just can't get over that.
Also, which character ends up dying at the end of the show? The easy guess is the newly wed wife but it maybe it will be the son from a scuba accident.

No I'm with you. Can't stand her and think she feels off with the rest of the characters. Only time I enjoyed her, is when the newlyweds were on the boat with her.
Same. She's the only character/plot line I don't care about at all, and I get annoyed every time they cut to her. The Connie Britton family, the newlyweds, and the hotel staff all feel interconnected, part of the same show, and like they each have legit stakes. Coolidge's mommy issues just don't compare at all.

I think she has good scenes and awful scenes and not much in between. Not sure why she's getting so much critical acclaim.

Uncle rico is my best guess. But I do have a backhanded fanciful theory that AD offs MS. Would explain why he is with that flight when no one else was shown, and AD isn't there.

In sorta thinking AD has the falling out with her husband, Connie Britton sees/feels bad and they connect while the chase is on for the stolen bracelets and someone dies, letting AD get the story of a lifetime to discuss chasing marriage over a career, loving the wrong people and blending it through the lens of a Google exec and her family's crazy vacation drama.

It's funny, I get why she would annoy people. But she is one of my favorites. She is just so perfectly damaged.
I was going to guess that it's Armond in the casket. And say that Shane ultimately blames Armond for Rachel leaving him, as the botched room is what initially caused the rift between Shane and Rachel, they would have been perfectly happy on their honeymoon otherwise, etc, etc. Armond is high as a kite, there's an altercation, and Armond dies, but it's inadvertent, and Shane ultimately isn't held responsible. So when Shane is staring out the terminal window in the flash forward, he's staring at his nemesis in the casket, wondering how it came to this. But then I quickly realized that if Armond lives in Hawaii, his body wouldn't be on a plane, so I'm back to having absolutely no clue.
BLM Greg is a possibility. They've indicated a health issue which I was thinking at first was a bit of a red herring. But a guy accepting crazy Tanya for what she is and then croaking would fit

Which then her grief finishes off any chance of spa lady's business ever happening. She's obviously been giving signs of losing interest, then I think success with Greg will reinvigorate her generosity and give spa lady new hope, only for it to completely fall apart when he dies
Does Uncle Rico have cancer? What's up with the hacking cough? I am thinking he is terminal and taking one last trip before he dies and he kicks the bucket before his vacation ends.
Didn't the couple at the beginning of ep1 say that somebody was murdered at the White Lotus? Don't think it is going to be a natural death.
