Did I miss it or was it implied that Olivia turned Kai in?

I don't think so. I think he got caught because he was a dumbass. Cameras all over that place, an employee key was used to enter, and he was basically wearing his dang uniform. So even if he kept the mask on the entire time, probably not that hard to figure it out he did it. May have even turned himself in

Agree with all that. Should have been an easy catch but he also was uneasy about it from the start and may have just fessed up.

Yeah, given the master key used, the first thing they'd do is question the staff, and that boy wouldn't hold up to the first question

Kai's biggest mistake was not nailing Olivia too and sticking with only Paula

Frankly the best thing about the show was its extremely subtle stabs at sjw and entitlement mentality.
Agree with the last part. Obviously Steve Zahn and Connie Britton were liberal, but every time Paula and Olivia diatribed, they just put them in their place and pissed them off because all they knew were talking points of "oppression, colonizers, etc." and didn't really have any responses.

They acknowledged that bad stuff happened in the past, but put a realistic take on what the real world is now.

Well, the whole business idea was a suckup for cash, so getting cash without having a crazy lasy business partner isnt much of an insult at that point.
I have no idea why people are so hard on Belinda acting like she wasn't totally altruistic. Coolidge is the one who told her to make a business plan and pursue it. I saw every action of her as kind until she blew off Daddario at the end, and i didn't necessarily disagree with her.

all of the characters were deeply flawed, pretty much, that probably being the point of the show. belinda (the one trying to start her own business) was probably the most relatable and good person in the show, but the ending to me shows that even she was pretty flawed.

IMO, she truly thought she was nice and patient; she truly thought she was doing everyone her best; but when her opportunity was presented, she lost sight of everything and turned selfish without even realizing it.

she lost sight of the fact that this rich lady was too crazy and self centered to be relied on; without even realizing it herself, she went from generously helping a crazy lonely woman, she ignored the crazy and sucked up to the rich lady for her own gain, so much so that when the crazy lady actually did something selfless and generous, and handed her a huge wad of cash, which was a tremendous gift, she didnt even appreciate it.

she gave her like 50k. anything but happy as hell is ungrateful and selfish.
And clearly none of it was about the money for Belinda.

I think she felt her work was appreciated for once in her life, and Tanya's enthusiasm for her is what made her excited to start her own business. It would have been life-changing for her circumstances.

And she didn't even look down at the envelope before she put it away, so she likely didn't see the amount.

But that showed that the money was meaningless to her at that point. Her heart was broken at being right back where she started after getting really excited about the new possibility because of Tanya's [admittedly over the top] enthusiasm for Belinda's work.

I'm a little confused that so many of you don't seem to understand that, or maybe are choosing to ignore that to make her out to be at fault here.

Disagree. She was being nice to her despite Coolidge being clearly unhinged. She invested emotionally in her life because it was obvious Coolidge was interested in her.

I think your opinion is more on the cynical side. Even her son (on the phone) had to tell her to take advantage of the white woman offering money - she never saw it that way until he said it. And I don't get the impression she was going to use her like her son suggested.

I agree with you on Belinda before the phone call with her son. But that phone call happened very early on and after that she was clearly hanging out with Coolidge for the sole reason of getting an investment. She was not emotionally invested in Coolidge and would redirect the conversation to her business investment every chance she could.

And she got the money at the end, so she should be happy/grateful. All she did was truly help out and care for Coolidge for a day or two and then continuously try and get her to invest in her business after that. The fact that she got the money at the end and wasn't happy shows that she just wanted a free handout in my opinion. Basically she wanted money and for Coolidge or her connections to do everything else for her I guess.

And I agree they probably made her character act that way so that all the characters seemed to have some flaws.

I guess I can see how you could view it that way. But I didn't. After talking to her son, belinda's actions seemed to show that it was all about the money for her. She brought it up every chance she could and Coolidge began to notice that that's all Belinda seems to care about (I think you could tell this from her reactions). Do you think she just really enjoyed hanging out with a psycho lady?

And she definitely knew how much was in the envelope. It was at least two stacks of $20k and looked like a little more. The weight and feel of it alone would give it away.

It wasn't about the money, it was about the wellness clinic.

Obviously the money she got wasn't enough.

says who? it looked to be somewhere around 50k.

has she not been saving at all? she looks to be about 50 years old. if it was that important to her she surely has her own money shes been saving for it.

then get a small business loan and rent a place to get started.

If that envelope had hundreds in it, which is what you get unless you ask for smaller, that was $40k + for sure.

agree that was a ton of cash assuming 100's...but if there's anything Hollywood has ever been consistent with...it's not coming close to matching the physical value of the dollars you see on screen to what the script says it is.

Ffs, if you go to a bank and ask for 5k or more they give it in hundreds. If you ask for 5's they'll tell you to wait until next week. If you ask for ones they'll tell you to **** off.

Even if it was ones, which would only happen as a deliberate joke or insult after a significant effort, it would still be a pretty solid tip for her time, not to mention buying her a bunch of expensive dinners.

Is this a serious question? There were clearly 400-500 bills in the envelope, which would be $40-50k if they are 100s. Do you think she asked for 400-500 20s or 1s at the bank just as a **** you to Belinda?

Omg, to get away from the Belinda craziness for a second, I just read an interview with Jake Lacy where he said their original idea for Bartlett's death was to have him be stabbed, fall against the wall, and have him slide down the wall with skid marks behind him. Seriously. Can you imagine if they had done that? Good interview though.

I don't think Belinda was showing and major flaw. Seemed like everyone relied on her - Armand, the lady having the baby, Coolidge, didarrio. Also, Tanya left her dinner with Belinda that one night when BLM was waiting for her at the bar. Tanya said "I'll pay for all this; you can even get more if you'd like." She was fed up with people who have money trying to make things better by giving up something that means little to them (small sums of money).
BMX Bandit
How long do you want to ignore this user?
when did Tanya go to the bank? that could have been money she brought from the mainland for "Walking around" money.

there is really no way to know if it was 50k or 5k. but does the amount matter? I don't think that was the point.

it was showing Tanya's relationship with Belinda was transactional and Tanya controlled her with money, like all her relationships and like she would do with Uncle Rico in Aspen.

the point of the exchange was about Tanya's character more than Belinda's. it was to show she hurt people, not that she was a benevolent person.
