Excellent documentary back story about the 2004 brawl at the Pacers v Pistons game where Ron Artest charged into the stands after a fan that threw a bottle at him. Highly recommend.

Looking forward to seeing this. I was out at a bar watching the madness unfold live.
the untold episode on the malice at the palace is excellent. that said: I think we needed a little more context than "NBA Ref" here... pic.twitter.com/OYsOFeyaAl

Never realized Donaghy was one of the refs that game
You clearly didn't watch the documentary or if you did you weren't paying attention.Southlake said:
I'm amazed with the stuff said / thrown at the players this kind of thing hasn't happened before. Sad part is that the big money fans closer to the game perpetuate this stuff. And the NBA doesn't want to lose big dollars by clamping down on this behavior"

No, I obviously haven't watched it yet. Apparently my thoughts are spot on.
On my list. Jermaine O Neal lives in Southlake. His daughter played volleyball for Carroll.

The dumbass that walked up to Artest on the court and squared up to him before getting clocked still doesn't think he did anything wrong. Unbelievable.
Not remotely.Southlake said:

My memory tells me that we knew that night watching the video over & over that he went after the wrong guy initially.duck79 said:
They mentioned that most of the fans ended up with fines and probation but made it sound as if the instigator(Jeff Green) got more. Did anything more than an assault charge come to him?
I also would have loved to him them interview the guy in the stands Artest went after. I had always assumed it was the person who threw the cup. Obviously Jeff Green wasn't with him, I'm curious his thoughts today.

The guy that started it all by throwing the cup of beer was such a d-bag. He had no guilt about Ron Artest punching out the wrong guy because of his actions and even doubled down by saying he wished he had tripped him. That's a grown ass man saying that.
This. I'm still amazed at the accuracy of that throw every time I see it. But **** that guye cartman said:AgNav93 said:

While dude was a ******, have to admit that was an Olympic-level cup toss
The perception was the reality at that time.Dad Jokes said:
I remember defending Jermaine at the time and the documentary reminded me why. The media was absolutely reckless in how they covered the incident. Stern bent over and absolutely threw the Pacers under the bus.
They clearly address this exact same point in the documentary.Southlake said:

Same here. I was at a bar in Houston with this girl I used to like. I remember there was a big storm that night in Houston, raining like crazy.Old School Brother said:
Watched this last night and thought it was really well done. Realized that I never even think about Jermaine O'neal when I think about the brawl. Yeah, I knew he threw that one punch, but when I think about it, it's always Ron Artest and Steven Jackson that pop into my mind.
It's crazy that this is one of those events that I remember exactly where I was when it happened. I was in Vegas, playing poker at the Mirage. All of the tables stopped playing for about 20 minutes because everyone was watching TV.
Same here, I busted out laughing when he said that. Reggie Miller doesn't seem like the Kobe or Jordan type who gets respect from his teammates when he says something to them or gets down on them. I could see his teammates rolling their eyes whenever he talks to them. He didnt seem like the clear leader on that team for someone of his stature and ability.Head Ninja In Charge said:
My favorite part was when Artest said he didn't give a **** about Reggie Miller's mentorship.
I think the guys on that team were the kind that wouldnt listen to any older player. Just a bunch of crazy peopleea1060 said:Same here, I busted out laughing when he said that.
