This show has been in development, with this title, long before Mare of Easttown was a thing. Ha, you really think they named it "Mayor of Kingstown" to kind of sound like a popular show that aired three months ago?

I watched the Yellowstone pilot years ago, wasn't really into it, and haven't seen another episode since. Though I've heard it's pretty good and is obviously insanely popular now. That said, *this* might be the show that finally gets me to subscribe to Paramount+. Looks fantastic, and features an awesome cast.

If that made you turn off a tv show so quickly then I don't know what to tell you.

I get the feeling but that scene is an eye roll at worst. First 2 eps were good enough. Similarities to Yellowstone but with a completely different setting. Seen some early unfavorable reviews but after watching the first 2 eps it's good enough to keep my attention for a full season.

It's standard practice these days. Never mind that the natives were genociding each other for centuries before Columbus sailed.

It was entertaining after that still. You just have to determine if you can handle Hollywood wokespeak for the sake of entertainment. Sometime I can. Sometimes I can't. Depends on how good the content is.

FTR, Wind River, Sicario, and Hell or High Water from Sheridan dealt with some political issues that I probably don't agree with (definitely not Wind River though, completely legit issue, either side of the political aisle) Sheridan's views on.

I don't love pandering woke commercials, but commercials encouraging kindness that dont paint a race as inherently evil don't bother me and usually get a smile.

Sucks that nearly every tv show these days has to cram a political agenda down the audience's throat.

Does the plus package have commercials? Can't stand watching tv with commercials.

Agreed. Mass incarceration as an issue I think you can get most of the populace behind. I'm a really conservative guy but I have a fairly libertarian view on the penal system. I think there's a lot of common ground that can be found.

Trying to convince me that violence didn't exist in the Western Hemisphere until Columbus showed up is just going to make me ignore anything else you have to say.

Hopefully that isn't a recurring theme. I usually give shows a pass on side commentary if it isn't necessary to the main plot of the show.

Is it dumb, yes. Is it also a realistic representation of some educators, also yes.

I liked it so far. 1.5 episodes in. My wife liked it just enough I have to wait on her watch, but not enough to want to watch it.

I searched Amazon Prime and found that I could watch episode one by subscribing to P+ for $0.99/month for the 1st 2 months. I watched it then cancelled as I can DVR it on P (non +) for the rest of the series under my FuboTV package.

Really enjoying it so far. Loved the Psycho like twist of the pilot.

I'll never understand those who turn off a show because of a character like Diane Wiest. I mean why didn't you get pissed when you saw the corrupt cop, or the drug dealer? Do you support those people's views and lives? No? She's a character! The show isn't about what she's saying, it's part of her character, and it serves a purpose. It paints her as an extreme idealist, which is in direct contrast to her sons, who are extreme realist. Plot is conflict people!

Love Jeremy Renner the actor but I can't peg him as a person. He was on Hot Ones last week and he's the type of guy where you could tell me he's the worlds biggest a-hole and I'd believe you, or you could tell me he's the nicest guy you ever met, and I'd also believe you. No idea what's going on behind those eyes.
