What did I just watch?
Without a doubt the weirdest movie I've seen in the past few years.

Enjoyed it until the third act/twist.

Yah, the campiness at the beginning threw me off at first.BoydCrowder13 said:Counterpoint said:

I honestly don't know where I fell. I was entertained but it was so weird I couldn't even process haha.
A lot probably intentional camp. The trailer in no way prepares you for the movie.

Is this a prequel/sequel/spin-off to a Conjuring movie or anything like that? Do I need to have seen anything else? Or is its own, contained thing? I hardy watch any horror, but everyone keeps talking about this bonkers third act, to the point where I'm legit curious now.

Ha, at the risk of being the film snob or Debbie Downer or whatever, I really don't get it. 25 minutes in and this is pure crap so far. Just… terrible acting, terrible dialogue, cheap-looking filmmaking, and super lame scares. I mean, this is, like, mid-90s, late-night-Skinemax-level quality across the board. How can the third act surprise be worth enduring another hour-and-a-half of this? What I do know is that between this and Aquaman, I'm pretty sure James Wan might be one of my least favorite filmmakers working today. Attempting to power through, though…

Attention all "horror" filmmakers…
Ghosts/monsters/entities that TRY to be scary AREN'T scary.
At least in my opinion.
Jaws is scary.
The Xenomorph in Alien is scary.
Because they're not trying to get a rise out of or f/ck with their prey. Instead, all that's driving them are their instincts. They're… primal. They're elemental.
But monsters like this double-jointed, Electro Rob Zombie… it's as if they *know* they're in a movie. It's as if they *know* where the camera is. And the fact that they're trying to scare their victims inherently means they crave a certain kind of attention, which, in turn, makes them inherently vulnerable and less threatening. I don't respect them like I respect the primal monster. Because deep down inside I know they're just a sad little monster who craves attention.
