... is back with his latest effort, Licorice Pizza, which I just saw referred to on Twitter as Boogie Days and thought was hilarious/perfect. Probably my second most anticipated movie for the remainder of the year behind Dune. It stars Alana Haim (of the band Haim), Cooper Hoffman (son of Philip Seymour Hoffman), Bradley Cooper, and Sean Penn, and really does look incredible. PTA doing coming-of-age, back in his hometown/The Valley, in the era he grew up... I absolutely cannot wait.

That looks really interesting, has a great vibe to it. Didn't realize Cooper Hoffman was the lead, real interesting.
Seemed like maybe too much was in the trailer, but I guess you dont really know until you see the movie.

That restaurant looks familiar. I don't know if is just because it feels like any other restaurant that I might have gone to in the 70s or if it is the place where steadicam and I had dinner in the valley a 5 or years ago.

Trailer feels like a cross between Boogie Nights and OUATIH. (Not that it's likely to be AS good as either.)

Sidenote: So in the final months of 2021, we'll be getting new movies from PTA, Wes Anderson, Edgar Wright, Denis Villeneuve, and Steven Spielberg. That's a pretty damn good run of auteur / A-List directors right there.

For all the talk of Jon Peters I'm surprised nobody has mentioned his greatest gift to cinema, and that's as exec producer of Caddyshack. I believe work on that film started in the summer of '79 but not sure how late into the 70's this movie goes. Cooper Hoffman as Spaulding Smails!

I expect this film to be pretty good, but I always wonder what a Paul Thomas Anderson movie would be like if it were directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, and vice versa.
