I like the song and the chorus is good but I cannot take Cookie Monster vocals from any band. I guess it's good that performers with no range can still make a living fronting a band but I don't know why so many bands have adopted the Cookie Monster approach.

It takes no talent to basically talk over music.

Like rap.

First, and I don't know if you meant to imply this, but this is not cookie monster vocals. This is more of a pantera type of aggressive vocal. Cookie monster, or death growl, is the vocal style that cannibal corpse kind of pioneered.

Second, well, just watch this.


None of the singing styles in metal, including death growl, are easy and take no talent, and if some random Joe decided to do it without knowing what he was doing, his voice would be shot after a few shows, possibly permanently depending on how long he did it.

These guys can do this night after night, and someone like Burton of Fear Factory, who kind of pioneered the heavy aggressive voice mixed with clean operatic style vocals, absolutely has to be on point with their technique. Mikael from Opeth is another big mixer of the two on their first 9 albums or so. What he does is extremely difficult, and takes talent in two different ways.


Watch some of the 'vocal teacher reacts' videos to someone like jinjer or opeth, and see them in awe.

Well, that would have been awesome, too, but i love how maroon barchetta encompasses the love of Rush and the Aggies. It's perfect.
