I love all the Bernie talk since I have a soft spot being from Carthage and growing seeing Bernie Tiede in the back row of the choir every Sunday. Best Santa Claus we ever had.

However, I still contend that O Brother is the best southern movie.

And fun fact, the house that (spoiler alert) Bernie killed Ms Nugent in is now being turned into a lovely wedding venue.

People seem to be confusing:
"Westerns that take place in Texas" AND "Southern"

I worked in the legislature for a session after I got out of school and David Swinford, a freshman state rep from the Panhandle, introduced a bill for the panhandle to secede from Texas. Somebody asked him what the boundaries of the Panhandle would be and he said that the technical definition was anything that was put on the other side of the Texas roadmap because it wouldn't all fit.
