Really an epic thread so early into 2020 and two.

Same, used to love it. Could deal with the occasional drunken left winged political preaching by Susan Sarandon or Meryl Streep. I just can't handle that sh** anymore.DallasTeleAg said:
Part of my frustration is due to the fact that I really do love movies and grew up watching the Oscars, every year. It pisses me off that I can't stand it anymore because of the politics.
Exactly. It's the vitriol behind all the humor towards half of the country that I can't stand.Boo Weekley said:Same, used to love it. Could deal with the occasional drunken left winged political preaching by Susan Sarandon or Meryl Streep. I just can't handle that sh** anymore.DallasTeleAg said:

Can't even watch SNL in recent years for a similar reason. Comedy infused with actual hatred isn't funny. It completely ruins it.
That would be exhausting.Brian Earl Spilner said:
Hmm... Already started thinking about how I'd do it, but only if there's interest.
I guess star my post above if you're interested in voting in a potential 2021 Texags Awards thread, and I'll assess if it's worth it.

To be honest, I would rather know what the rest of the board consider to be the best 5 movies of the year. I would be more open to making sure I saw those 5 movies than the ones the GG or Oscars nominates.
This was not a year I saw many films, there's a ton I want to see but never got around to, but here's my top 5.DallasTeleAg said:

this was actually a 2020 movie. but i didn't see it anywhere till middle of 2021 and i'm pretty sure i watched it this last fall. i only know that because i was thinking "surely Carey Mulligan will get an oscar nomination for this." and then looked and saw she did but lost.Quote:

I suppose I could do what I first described, but leave a field for adding in their own pick if not one of the 5 nominees.

I'd start there.

Definitely the best monologue in awards history.
I agree with this idea selfishly because I've seen very few of the nominated movies this year and tend to watch some random stuff that would never get nominated anyway.DallasTeleAg said:
