Pretty much this. The last season was so awful that it had clouded my impression of the whole show. However, we recently started a rewatch of it, and yeah, Barney was freakin hilarious almost 100%.

Definitely prefer this to Friends because of that, and the fact that as a setting for a show:

McLaren's Pub >>>>>>> Central Perk

Any bar is definitely better than a coffee shop.

I agree with this. The best seasons are when Barney and Marshall are working together at GNB.

This show and friends aren't even comparable in my mind.

Was HIMYM the greatest show ever? No. Not even close.
Did it run too long? Absolutely.
Did I enjoy the show and make the occasion reference to it? Yes. I can't say the same for friends. Me laughing during a friends episode was the exception not the rule.

The finale felt extremely rushed. Like a 6th grader who didn't read the book, writing a book report on the bus on the way to school.

I watched HIMYM through the whole run.

I liked it a lot more early and I think it was on too many seasons and the ending kind of sucked.

This new show doesn't look like it will work for me. Maybe it's because I'm an old now.

Love HYMYM. Will not watch this.

The last season was wayyy too drawn out. But, the last four or so episodes are a terrific love letter to growing up and growing apart from your friends.

And those of y'all saying it was the worst ending of all time clearly haven't seen GoT.

Between season 3 and 4 was the writer strike IIRC. Wasn't the same show after that. It was very good up to that point.

I watched the first episode and was impressed I didn't see one likeable character...don't know how or why I can spend time on another episode

I'll watch anything with Jason Segal and I liked HIMYM

First 2-3 seasons weee awesome no doubt.

HIMYM was a decent show made above average almost entirely by Neil Patrick Harris. Although his character was just an updated Dan Fielding.

Slapsgiving was good stuff
