How long do you want to ignore this user?
I thought it was pretty good for a quick binge, episodes were only 30 minutes long. It was like a half serious, half parody series but still pretty entertaining. It kind of reminds me of the movie Malignant in a way, sometimes hard to tell if the movie/show is taking itself seriously or not in the beginning, then you realize ok nevermind this is completely absurd and a parody.

Can anyone help explain the ending in the airplane with the old lady next to her and the gold case she found? I wasnt sure how all of that tied in to everything.

It's a call back to the beginning. She sees a murder that no one else does, then finds a clue that can show that it actually happened, and says "Bingo".

Gotcha, thank you. I didnt pay that much attention to the beginning episode so I mustve missed that part lol.

The old lady is Glenn Close and I saw it as a tip-of-the-hat to 'Fatal Attraction' plus a lead into the next season...possibly...

it is....so bad. like indescribably bad...like so bad that anyone that says it's not bad will be added to a Google Keep list and cross-referenced anytime a tv review comes up on this board in the future so as to ensure I never watch anything else that said person recommends.

You do understand that it is satire, right?

Something can be satire without being funny.

It's okay, not everyone can have good taste. You certainly don't.

Gulliver's Travels was not funny.

sweet...now we're debating classical satire as it relates to this abomination.

it was clearly an attempt to spoof a genre. I just don't think it was executed well...at all (like my original post apparently).

I'm kind of shocked that so many folks enjoyed it. Maybe that speaks to the general quality of Netflix content these days.

There were some genuinely humerous...ish moments.

Like the lady falling out of the lighthouse in the background, the sudden long stripper sex scene, can't remember anything else.

But yeah, it was just too subtle for me. In a bizarre way, it might have been a lot more better for me if they'd gone a lot more overboard

I'm honestly really digging this series. Should finish it up in the next couple days.

Definitely have to understand its satire going in. It's certainly not over the top like "Scary Movie" but it's in a similar spirit.

Everytime Kristen Bell poured the entire bottle of wine in her wine glass I busted out laughing, I dont know why lol. Also, the fight scene with the little girl at the end cracked me up.

I thought it was silly and entertaining enough, and Bell is always fun to watch (and just fun to look at), but my issue with this series is how closely it followed the actual book that it was parodying. There were a few moments it felt more like a serious adaptation of Women in the Window, and then something over-the-top stupid would happen and it would pull me out of it.

If I had watched this without having read the book, I probably would have hated it. Feels like they could have leaned more into the Airplane-like ridiculousness.

watched the entire thing last night

I literally have no freaking clue what the hell I just saw...

is it because I haven't seen any of the movies they are spoofing and so nothing was ironic or funny?

anyone of y'all notice every time she went to the cemetery the gravestone had a different message on it?

it seemed like maybe her house interior decor was changing as well. That was the highlight of the series for me, the blue and white walls were fantastic.

the other highlight was the flight attendant/bartender who is a SMOKESHOW and about 100 times more attractive than Kristen Bell. also the asian neighbor is hot.

the daughter Emma is going to be a STAR in about a decade. she is beautiful and a pretty decent actor for a pre-teen.

anyone can explain the deal with the "handyman"?!?!

Did you watch the whole thing?

Buell was hired by the ex-husband psychiatrist as a handyman to fix things around the house. He was ALWAYS fixing the mailbox each day for whatever reason. Then she found out he was the thing up in the attic making all the noise (he had moved in without them knowing). Bell's ex-husband finally told her, "Oh hey, by the way, Buell had a psychotic episode and kill his entire family with a claw hammer... but I rehabilitated him" That's when Kristen Bell freaked out and chased him to the neighbors house..."

Sexy Rexy and Buell were kind of an amalgamation of the character from the book, who was a sexy-bad-boy-handyman dude who rented out her basement.

I can't believe how poor the taste in women is on here. seriously there is no possible metric where Kristin Bell is superior to this.

younger
Longer prettier hair
much taller
wider hips
wider waist
bigger chest
brunette
brown eyes.

I loved this show! Just bonkers and over the top silly. Loved the twist in the last episode and that fight scene was hilarious!

I agree. Kristen Bell is cute and all, but this actress Shelley Hennig is a former Miss Teen USA. Kristen Bell cant really compete with that. Kristen is like girl next door pretty, Shelley is like model/beauty pageant hot lol.

Her daughter was eaten by a pyscho in prison on Take Your Daughter to Work day!

How can you not tell the show is not being serious?

It was entertaining. The humor was dark and, I want to say subtle but I don't think that's it, low key maybe. The lol moments were pretty good.

Loved the therapy scene when a women said it was difficult to talk about her brother's death because she struggles with pronouncing his cause of death, autoerotic asphyxiation

I didn't know this was a parody. I do not watch horror movies. But I figured it out in the last episode when the fight between Bell and the nine year old was choreographed just like the fight scene in Misery except Bell was Bates and the nine yr old was James. The casserole was the typewriter.

Idk what the hell I just watched. This is the kind of show that only exists in the streaming era. Mindlessly consumable, made on the cheap, Kristen Bell got a payday for doing something probably way beneath her, most only watched bc Kristen Bell was in it, and also just bc it was just there. It's 3-4 hours of my life I spent while waking up with coffee, Ive done worse and I've done much better.

The streaming era of shows is producing such weird things. They're like "different" than the network BS we used to be fed, but generally, I'm not sure they're better.

But some algorithm told Netflix this combo of things was something we needed, so here we are.
