Just watched ep 1. Follows the book very well. So far so good!

Also, they nailed Reacher's character perfectly.

I'm so thankful they didn't cast a short person to be Reacher this time. I really wanted to like the movie but when they cast Cruise as Reacher, I couldn't get into it. It felt like someone casting Nick Kroll as Shaft.

This guy is way too tall to play a Tim Cruise character.

I'm not sold on this Reacher actor. He has the physical characteristics, but so far not seeing the charisma and cocky confidence that Cruise got right.

I don't know. I actually like this guy so far. I felt like Reacher grew on me throughout the first book so hopefully, this guy does the same. Seems like in episode 2 he's had some more charisma. Really digging it so far.

Of course, I feel like I convinced myself to like this since it was NOT Cruise as the actor and a big dude that could crush people.

Cruise nailed the first movie from an investigator standpoint. Just he wasn't Reacher from a physical standpoint.

The only quibble I have with the writing/directing so far is Reacher opening the bottle with his bicep. A very show off move that doesn't ring true. Reacher displays his strength all the time, but not to show off. IMHO

Man, I was sure they finance guy was going to have some evidence in the Beatles collection.

Love Amazon dropping them all at once.

Nice snow day benge. Not as good as Jack Ryan but a solid series.

This show reminds me how much I enjoy shows where the main characters aren't making idiotic decisions for plot setup. Reacher makes good logical decisions and kicks ass along the way. Love it so far (through episode 5).

I'm loving this show. I hope it lasts a good while.

Thru three and I am enjoying it. Problem with wanting better writing imo is that the series is very repetitive so they are going to have to deviate from the books. Which I think they can pull off now that they have established the character

Finished it last night. I hope it gets a second season as well. They really nailed some things about the book and the character. Seems like if they give it a little more budget and time it will really hit a stride.

Two things that I specifically liked -

1. They nailed the fighting style for Reacher. He's not a ninja/king fu/fancy fighter. He's skilled but he's a mauler and fights without rules. I thought they did a great job translating what I see in my head when I read his fights.

2. So much of the books are written from his point of view and are his thought process. How he makes the conclusions he makes or why he does certain things. I thought they did an admirable job turning that into dialogue for Reacher. Some of it was a little awkward and made him more verbal than he is in the books but I think it was a necessary choice.

I did not like most of the ancillary characters. I know he's been in a bunch of stuff but the mayor was not good and may as well have been from an SNL skit about Georgia. And KJ was not good as an actor either. That's why I hope they get a bigger budget to up their supporting role options to a better tier of actor. Give the main guy another season and I think he'll come along as well.

Overall fun snow weekend binge and I am glad they made it.

I find it funny that we have numerous threads of people complaining about WoT or Witcher not being faithful to the books. Then we get a show that is pretty darn faithful to the source material and there are calls for it to deviate.

I totally get what you mean about repetitive, don't get me wrong. I just find it funny.

If I remember correctly the second book is about a bunch of separatists (maybe white nationalists??It's been a few years)

Amazon has never shied away from making white nationalists/supremacists as bad their guys so that should be some variety.

ETA: White nationalists/supremacists ARE bad. There was just that weird period from 2016 on where they were popping up as the bad guy in everywhere ( Hunters, the Boys, AHS, Watchmen, Good Fight, etc )

My wife and I stayed up Friday until after midnight bingeing the full season. I kept asking her if she wanted to continue or watch something else, later asking if she had enough for one day but she was hooked and wanted to go on and see what happened. We both really enjoyed it. Stayed pretty true to the book with a few minor differences. I am now re-reading the book.

I finished it last night too. Really enjoyed it. Though after watching Ozark the previous weekend, I kept seeing Ruth when I looked at Roscoe.
