Returns this Friday, after an over two-year absence.

However, I just saw that this season will release weekly instead of all of once, a first for the series. Apparently the creators negotiated that deal point in their latest contract, as to keep it part of the conversation/collective consciousness longer, which I'm all for. I've grown increasingly tired of binging new series, and instead love the weekly consumption more.

I know a number of people felt that season three dipped a bit, and I'm one of them (at least the second half of the season, as I loved the first half), but I recently rewatched the S3 finale to refresh and found it just as sharp and hilarious as ever. So maybe it was just overly high expectations the initial go-around, as the first two seasons were/are some of my all-time favorite TV.

Yep, we can't wait for this to start either. Maisel is one of our favorite recent series.

I've loved this series. S3 wasn't as good as the first two, but I really liked a lot of the interplay between the characters we got because of some of the bigger plot points. It's felt like ages we've had to wait for some sort of follow up from that runway scene. So glad it's back.

Also, her parents steal every scene they're in. Hope we get a heavy dose of Abe.

This is by far one of my favorite shows, wife's too. Every aspect of it is just top notch. Acting, costumes, music, cinematography, sets, creativity, etc.

You can tell how much thought they put into every scene. There are some sequences where I realize, after the fact, that they just pulled off a complex 3 minute scene with zero camera cuts, 40 actors, and complex camera movements. Makes me think Scorsese has taken a gig with Amazon.

Can't wait for S4.

The Ferris wheel scene was so well done and had me rolling.

Just the entire Coney Island set was wonderful. The boys and Abe had me cracking up.

Good stuff.

Watched the first 2, and it did not disappoint. Great having this show back. Loved them bagging on the hacks and trying to blaze their own way. Abe and his tiny paycheck from The Voice cracks me up

Season premiere was incredible. The meltdown in (and next to) the cab. Her "revenge" monologue on stage. Susie and her sister in the insurance office. Joel trying to speak Chinese while getting in trouble for his club being too successful. The amazing sequence at Coney Island celebrating her son's "birthday" culminating in the insanely funny and creative Wonder Wheel argument across 5 different cages (as Abe called them).

Great start to the new season. Episode two was not quite as fun, but still a lot of wonderful sequences. I was rolling during the sanitarium sequence and loved the final scene with Midge and her father sitting on the living room floor.

Glad we are spacing it over 4 weeks, though I was sad when we couldn't roll straight onto episode 3. No other show out there that compares to this one, IMO.

They haven't missed a best! Great episodes. Sophie Lennon at the loony bin was hilarious!

I guess I'm in the minority here. My wife and I absolutely loved the first two seasons and thought last season was still very good. I've only seen the first episode of season 4, but I didn't think it was very funny, and the Ferris wheel scene did nothing for me. It felt like the show had new writers. Maybe we just weren't in the right frame of mind after watching an episode of Ozark before hand.

Maybe the most well written show of all time.

One thing so far this season - it seems more stage-acting-ey if that makes sense. The sets, especially, the Gaslight when empty seemed much more like sets. Just an observation.

I've always felt like the show was a stage play in terms of sets, writing, acting...all of it. I'd assumed it was intentional?

Can't believe two people on this thread think its ran out of steam or changed... this is as good as ever.

The season premier was phenomenal. Her meltdown and the revenge bit on stage... so great. And Coney Island was brilliant.

Agreed. Just finished the first two episodes of the season and IMO it's as sharp as ever. I really love how they essentially brought everything back to square one - Miriam's career, her apartment, etc - in organic ways that have so far squeezed every ounce of drama from the threads established at the end of season three.

I'll concede that the show may never reach the highs of its initial conceit - with Miriam keeping her budding standup career a secret from her family and all the excitement and tension that came from that - but four seasons in it's still better than 99% of everything else on TV. That, and with the tease of Miriam potentially working at a gentlemen's club, I have a feeling she's going to have to keep that from her family now too, which could also help add to the "square one" vibe in fun ways.

oh man, I think so far this season is much better than last.

I really enjoyed it. I don't think I've ever watched a show where where I just love pretty much every member of an ensemble as much as I do this one. The chinatown girlfriend fits right in.

I didn't love the Shy storyline, so I wasn't sad to see it go.
