I hate anime (outside of Animatrix), but this might actually get me to watch an anime.

I could see Helm Hammerhand being really cool in anime.

I don't know about this idea. I've always heard that too much Helm Hammerhand will make you go blind.

Hmm... interesting. Would like to see something about Eorl the Young coming to Gondor's aid, and the founding of Rohan.

Never been a fan of anime, but am interested.

I love anime, but it's a quirky medium. Really hard to adapt to other forms, and I think sometime struggles when adapting other media to it.

Star Wars Visions was pretty good though, but those were 10 minute ideas not a full movie.

One of my biggest problems has been with JRPGs and a couple anime I have seen. They have absolutely zero nuance in their storytelling. It almost seems like they have to point everything out instead of letting the audience interpret subtext.

Again, haven't taken any deep dives in anime because I just don't appreciate what I have been exposed to, but that has been my experience.

Then may I present to you Attack on Titan. It's as opposite the bold as any anime ever created. It's also currently in the second half of its final season so you can binge it. On Hulu. Only reason I have Hulu.

One of the most intelligently written shows I've seen. It's BSC crazy for the first few episodes and then it settles out as it slowly reveals what is going on over many episodes.

On the OP, I'm trying to not be hypocritical and state that I'm intrigued by this while already condemning Amazon's Tolkien effort.

I may not be successful in that. We shall see as I learn more about this effort.

Weird take for me because one of the things I really enjoy about anime is that they don't explain a TON of stuff.

"Oh you're a samurai from a lost colony on the moon? And also a bear? Cool, no need to go into that, let's get on with the story then"

Didn't recall this thread. Anyway, I started this tonight and abandoned it about 15 min into it.

The animation was horrific and I couldn't get past how bad it was. It was as if they purposely sabotaged the quality of it, or had no budget.

I didn't realize that New Line Cinema basically has to crank out Tolkien fan fiction in order to retain the movie rights to LoTR and Hobbit. So I guess mostly similar fan fiction is preferable to the potential Amazon abortion level garbage going on with the Rings streaming series.

That explains this abortion then.

I think I made it about half an hour before I turned it off. It was just boring. I don't know what the budget was but at least they're not spending a billion to make the Rings of Power. The result was the same, just bad LOTR material that isn't worth watching.
