John Williams will be the loss of a legend that we may never see again.

His sequel work wasn't particularly great and felt a little phoned in but to think of everything he has done is always staggering to me.

I feel like the guys composing the powerful music aren't appreciated as much as they should be. Williams probably is a bit more than guys like Morricone and Conti. The latter 2 were phenomenal in their prime and played huge roles in movie greatness.
They're definitely the Mozarts and Beethovens of our time and we simply don't realize it.

Dimebag Darrell was the only time I remember a celeb death ruining my day.

I suppose the only celeb death that I would feel any real emotion about would be George Strait.

Yeah, the only celebrity deaths that have really affected me were live performers who I'd hoped to see again.

I don't think any celebrity death would "ruin" my day. It's more about a reflection of what they meant to my childhood. If we're talking about people that would seriously f up my day, Jimbo Fisher would be #1.

Willie

My first and only answer. Willie's music is part of American History, and knowing he's still out there makes it feel better. I hope scientists figure out a way to keep his head alive in a jar for centuries. I'll sprinkle dope in the saline solution 3 times daily.

+ whatever for Willie. It's going to suck to lose him but at least we've had him for so long. Unlike Waylon whose death absolutely gutted me.

The five celebrity deaths that have actually moved me to tears were:
John Denver
Waylon Jennings
Ronald Reagan
John Ritter
Tom T. Hall

my elementary years were spent listening to Randy Travis and George Strait. It'll suck when they're gone

Growing up in Austin it was a shock when SRV died. Kurt Cobain while in college. Recently it was Neil Peart.

Going forward I think it will be a very sad day when Willie passes. That will hit a lot of us Texans hard.

I second King George.
His breadth of good music is incredible and he's just a damn good guy.

John Candy's death shook me when i was younger though. He just seemed like a very kind uncle who was more child than adult.

Tim Allen. Home Improvement was the first show I watched start to finish in real time. A lot of my childhood is rooted in that show.

I triple George Strait, that one will get me....
In my experience, there's no such thing as luck.

Is it bad that I don't feel this way at all? Massive love and respect for his acting and legacy. But as a celebrity, he's so openly resentful of his fandom.

Already took EVH, Tom Petty, and Cornell so not much meat left on left on the bone. Betty White too. She was just fun to love.

James Earl Jones will sting.

Keanu will sting.

Dan Akroyd and Bill Murray.

Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony.

Mick Mars.

Dave Matthews.

Terry Bradshaw.

Staff - take out the trash.

I can't say I've ever lost it over any celebrity's death, but I'll say that John Williams and Harrison Ford, both already mentioned, could cause me a bit of sadness. Both are up there. Williams' work has been noticeably lesser in recent years (lesser = just awesome, not freaking awesome). Ford has had a lot of roles that looked like he was just there, phoning it in, but his return to Han Solo was great. Hoping his return to Indiana Jones will be likewise. Both of these guys were mainstays of my youth.

Joe Ely. A lot of my connections and memories of my dad revolve around music. Guy Clark hit me. Joe Ely will be real tough.

Hopefully not for a LONG time!

Yes, we got to spend the day with her while she and my wife recorded some promo stuff for CMT in Linda Perry's studio. To say it was surreal is an understatement

There are so many stories of people she has helped out in a time of need in the pigeon forge Sevierville area. She never publicizes it, just helps when she can. I have such a greater appreciation for her as a person and a business woman as well

I'll add one - Steve Martin. Only because, with that gray/white hair, he looked old when he appeared on The Muppet Show in 1977.

Speaking of The Muppets…there has not been a death that upset me more than Jim Henson. Even as an 11 year old kid, I knew that one was big. And The Muppets haven't been the same since. He was a genius in my eyes.
