I have a couple of Hootie and the Blowfish songs on my pop playlist and was thinking they have to have the wimpiest band name ever. I think that's why Rucker left and went country. Can you think of a band that has a worse name?

Hootie and the Blowfish were the nicknames of 2 friends of the band that Rucker saw entering a party together and yelled out at a fellow band member

The name has some significance to it. They were originally Bob Dylan's backing band when he put down the acoustic guitar and started gravitating to a more rock and roll sound. They were always introduced as Bob Dylan and the band. When they decided to make their own record it was only fitting they just called themselves "The Band".

Came here to post this. I love Monty Python but don't like it as the band name. That and their music started grating on me pretty quick in college.
