I can handle differences in ideology or politics 100%. But when a f-ing actor comes out preaching politics or ranting on how "racist, bigoted, stupid" etc. many of my friends and family are for voting for the "wrong guy" or for differing ideologically…they are dead to me.

Same and I had to stop listening to the Zach Braff/Donald Faison podcast during the the early covid days. God it was annoying when they'd get off on virus tangents and stuff. I work in the medical field and a lot of stuff they said early was way off. Stopped listening so I could still enjoy Scrubs

I'm mostly in this camp. You can be politically different than me, and advocate for the other side and that's 100% ok. As much as I disagreed with the Rock's endorsement in 2020, he didn't call everybody that didn't vote his way racist and I can appreciate that.

Just don't demonize half of America. Most of the people that voted Biden did not wish for specific harm on half the country. Most people that voted for Trump did not wish specific harm on half the country.

The only person in Hollywood I actively boycott is Jane Fonda.

I'm a whole lot less likely to watch old Cosby shows now if that counts.

Michael Jackson is the only artist I refuse to give any time or money to. He was gifted but really a messed up guy who likely abused numerous young boys.

I really don't care if a musician has a different religious or political point of view from me.

Easy to separate if you're good enough. I have no problems avoiding a Mark Ruffalo or Payton Oswalt movie now. Still can't pass on something if it's great.

The albums Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad are still in heavy rotation for me. Those albums are WAY too culturally significant to be cancelled. Sorry if that makes me a bad person.

He's dead.
His family/estate continues to profit from his work. Up to $750 mil from $500 at the time of his death.

An added thought in seriousness. A quick study of history's greatest artists from the dawn of civilization to now seems to show that A LOT of very creative and talented people are also not what would be considered conventional, wholesome, upstanding human beings. I'd say more often than not the most creative, quality material comes from pretty tortured, conflicted souls. It's part of why I admire the creation itself and don't often lionize the artist, because seldomly have they earned that. Rather than being surprised that my favorite artists turn out to be some form of wacky, I'm surprised if any of them in reality are decent people at heart. I think there's a reason your favorite songwriter of all time is probably a ******* and the guy playing open mic night at the neighborhood bar and being ignored by everyone there while they eat is a good dude with a wife and kids.
There is a question of the chicken or the egg here, though. Is the songwriter a ******* and that has something to do with why they make great music, or did the songwriter make great music and the money and fame that they received from that turned them into a *******.

If you follow a lot of these celebrities from the time they first become famous to where they are in their later years, it's pretty obvious that celebrity and money (and a lot of time drug use) changed who they were and made them crazy.

Honestly, I wouldn't wish vast fortune and celebrity on any of my children, especially before the age of 40.
