Meh. His favorite college team is playing their biggest rival in the final 4 of the NCAA tourney. I would take off work if A&M were playing the sips in the final 4, and I'm just as big of a deal as Eric Church. Good for him. He's refunding the money at least.

This is not even the worst concert cancellation of 2022. Adele canceled her Vegas residency the day before her first show. People had already flown to Vegas for the show.

I am an Eric Church fan, had tickets for the concert, and then this…will never buy tickets for a concert of his again and I lost a lot of respect for him…sorry your "team" is playing while YOU scheduled a concert, but you need to fulfill your obligation.

This would be understandable if it was A&M or any other non-basketball school that happened to make a deep run in March Madness.

However, UNC makes a deep run in March Madness nearly every single year. Its predictable that they would likely still be playing in April. If it's that important to you, don't schedule a concert during the tournament

People made travel plans, booked hotels, got sitters, etc. Just to go see him sing some awful pop songs. A bunch of temp workers who don't get to fly to Final Four games were planning to work that night in the arena and surrounding parking facilities and restaurants. And he's telling them all, "F off, I wanna go watch a game." What a total piece of crap.

Thank you! I didn't have the time or mental energy to come up with a similar response to this, but holy hell… yeah "at least"???? So you're saying if he'd have said screw all y'all and cancelled and NOT refunded tickets THEN he'd be a real jerk???

This fact makes it infinitely more disgusting/hilarious. This dummy went to Appalachian State, 190 miles from UNC. CBS needs to have a Church Cam on him the whole game. This might be the first time I've ever rooted for Duke.

Pretty sure this kind of thing happens more than you would know. What's unusual is admitting the reason. Presumably, he's going to the game and figured it would get out that he was there so he had to admit this is the reason.

I don't understand why people keep saying this. EC seems to be one of the only artists left in the mainstream who doesn't play "pop" songs. Can you please give an example of one of his songs that you think is pop ?


EC is probably my favorite artist right now - seen him live 3 times and am actually seeing him in Ft. Worth tomorrow night. He always has a high energy show and almost always plays a longer set that other shows I've been to in recent years.

That being said, I was definitely shocked to hear the news that he cancelled a show for this. Based on his long standing relationship with his fans, he seems like the last artist that would do something like that. It's actually put a little damper on my excitement for tomorrow's show. I have to think that he will make up the SA show at some point soon - had he announced that immediately, it would've lessened the blow quite a bit. Wouldn't affected those who made big travel plans to get there though - but that is a risk for going to any concert these days - especially in the Covid era. This was definitely handled poorly, and I would hope he'll rectify it soon.

Guy sucks ass and clearly doesn't give a **** about his fans or the arena staff who get paid selling concessions, working security, etc. Local economy around the arena takes a big hit too for pre- and post-concert dining and drinking and clubbing.

How many of us have worked Saturdays for years and missed seeing huge Aggie games as a result? **** that guy.

I hate new country and love Eric Church. And I hate irony, which is ironic. Anyway, I'd be pissed if I had tickets, but I think this is bad for the entire new country genre which amuses me.

This looks a little worse happening after the Will Smith slap. Celebrities are looking more and more like the d-bags they often are.
