Cool! I have seen them around 25 times, first time on the Empire tour in Albuquerque. That was actually my first semester at A&M and just a week before finals. A buddy and I drove from CS to Albuquerque, went to the show, then drove back and went to class. It was awesome seeing Mindcrime in its entirety. They were definitely at the top then.

My buddy and I even found them before the concert and got to talk to them, get their autographs and Scott Rockenfield gave us backstage passes and floor seats (we had gen adm in the balcony) after we explained that we had driven in from CS for the show. They were really cool to us which is a big part of why they became my favorite band.




I didn't like the albums with Geoff on vox after PL much either and was happy when they kicked him out tbh. If you haven't heard the last 3 albums with Todd LaTorre on vox you should check them out. They got back to their metal roots, and in concert they are playing a TON of old stuff from the EP, Warning, R4O, etc. and in the original keys since Todd can hit the high notes that Geoff no longer can.

I saw Scorpions last month in Vegas and they were excellent. Make sure you check out their new album it is great!

Thanks for the tip on the new Queensryche stuff. I tried them a bit after Promised Lands (which was meh) and didn't like them without Geoff but the new stuff sounds great.

Ok enough about TON.. just trying to make sure they get a fair chance, they are easily one of the most underrated bands in my mind. Top 5 band for me of all time. Albums 3-7 are front to back listeners for me.

They are so much more than black #1.. their 'big' hit that threw them into mainstream. Can't be mad.. it's when I became a fan after hearing it on houston radio.. but I followed them ever since and always heavily anticipated a new album and purchased physical cd on release date.

You bet! If you get a chance to see then live with Todd you won't be disappointed. They sound great. I believe they're on the road with Judas Priest currently. Lots of live videos being posted on YouTube.

As a kid in the early 80s in Saudi Arabia, I had this one Japanese-American friend from Seattle who introduced me to Queensryche. It wasn't really my cup of tea in 1983-85, I was way more into Dio. Nowadays, I'm a Queensryche fan.

26 April 2007, I had the chance to see Heaven and Hell in Chula Vista (San Diego) - literally right next to the border with Mexico. I got to meet the guys in Machine Head who were new but pretty cool. It was a long drive down to San Diego and on the drive back, two of my friends had stolen some of RJD's Boddington's Ale and were drinking it in my Ford Expedition. These two meatheads start fighting over the last can of Boddingtons and wind up having it spring a leak and spew Boddington's all over the floor in the backseat.

Since Heaven and Hell were off to Albuquerque the next day, we didn't get to hang that late plus it was a work night and I had to drive back to LA.

6 October 2007, I had the chance to see Queensryche open for Alice Cooper who opened for Heaven and Hell at the end of their North American Tour in Irvine, CA. Well, organizing rock and rollers and commuting from LA down to Irvine takes more time than you'd like. So by the time we got there, Queensryche was finishing their set.

We managed to drink Heaven and Hell out of all their Landshark beer which was what the promoter provided and we ventured over to the Queensryche dressing rooms once Alice went on stage.

It didn't take long to finish off all of Queensryche's beer and I'm sure that we were in Scott Rockenfield's dressing room. Anyway, eventually it was time for Heaven and Hell to go on.

Prior to that, I did get to meet all the guys in the band and I couldn't believe how short Ronnie was - even in high heeled boots. Ronnie was so incredibly nice.

Watched the Heaven and Hell show from the side of the stage and after the show struggled to find my car.
Wound up giving a ride back to their hotel for some crazy German tourists who had followed Heaven and Hell for the past 5 shows. That was the one time, I just totally ran out of energy to make it back to LA. Sprung for a hotel room at the Airport Holiday Inn in Long Beach - totally worth it. I wouldn't have made the rest of the drive.

So I'd like to say I saw Queensryche, unfortunately, I didn't. But I did drink their beer with them.

Anyway, someone mentioned the Scorpions. I think everyone needs to watch this video from 1978 just to see what an amazing guitarist Uli Jon Roth was in that band. This song kicks so much ass. I love their whole catalog and saw them in Vegas about 5 or 6 years ago with Queensryche (my favorite all time band). They were amazing live still after nearly 50 years.

I got started on the Scorpions when Love at First Sting came out. And of course the songs from World Wide Live that were on heavy rotation on MTV.

I've still got a special place in my heart for "Still Lovin' You" which was one of the main High School Sway - slow dance song with girls at my Junior High in Saudi Arabia. Tragically, my Louisiana girl who I have the best memories of that song with became a super Baptist holy roller and de-friended me after we found each other on FB. Too much posting pictures of drinking in the Business Class Lounge, I guess.

Anyway, in 2015, I finally had the opportunity to see Michael Schenker at Whisky a Go Go in LA. It was an all ages show so I was able to take my 16 y/o daughter. I had no idea that Michael Schenker had played on so many Scorpions songs. It was sort of before my time.

I fell in love with the Lovedrive album after that and when I took a business trip to Frankfurt in 2017, I bought the German x-rated Vinyl record for my daughter. She took 6 years of German in school so she loved it.

I also didn't know much about UFO but after hearing Michael Schenker play Doctor Doctor, Rock Bottom, etc., I'm definitely a fan of that too.

I love hard rock/metal and have since being introduced to KISS via Destroyer (on 8 track) when I was a kid, and then when Metal Health came out in 1983. Unbelievable how that album dominated when it came out.

Over the course of time I've gotten to meet many of the former Quiet Riot players. I actually count Carlos Cavazo as a friend which is crazy to say considering I was just a kid in Junior High in Saudi Arabia when Metal Health hit. Like he's at the US Festival at Glen Helen in 1983 while I'm some dorky kid in 7th Grade in the middle of a desert on the other side of the world. But, I've been to parties at his house, he's been to my house, etc. Totally strange but true. If you need a Ford Mustang hot rod mechanic, Carlos is your guy.

I've also met Rudy Sarzo, Chuck Wright, Juan Croucier and I was friendly with Sean McNabb before I moved to Australia in 2008.

I've had the opportunity to meet a lot of musicians and to a man, the guys I met who played in Quiet Riot have been the nicest and friendliest, Juan Croucier is one of the best storytellers I've ever met. I don't know if it's a Cuban thing or what (like comedian Joey DIaz) but Juan can hold your attention with a story.

I'll just share this story which is probably one of the coolest things I've even seen a rock and roller do. We were at some crappy little bar in Reseda. After the show, some weirdos from the midwest who had come out to LA and saw some bands on their trip, were hanging around and just kind of wanted to meet some of the guys who used to be somebody so to speak.

As I'm standing there, I introduce them to Carlos and after a few sentences, the conversation dies off. At that point, all Carlos had to do was say good night and walk away. But, he could see that this trip was the trip of a lifetime for these fans and they had just been through some traumatic experiences back home. Carlos picked up the conversation. Related some of his own personal tragedies and kept the conversation going with these folks. It was one of the most kind hearted, sensitive, compassionate things I've ever seen anybody do. And the thing that really stuck with me is that he didn't have to do that. He could have just played the pseudo-celeb card and walked away. I guarantee those fans will never forget the night they spoke with Carlos Cavazo.

Can't name a single metal song I like, but is Napalm Death considered metal? Bc I like to play that over the Sonos in every room while I'm at work and my wife needs to be woken up, or if I feel like scaring her at any time I'm away.

Wayyyyy too many to name, but here are a few of my top ones....

Took 66yrs, but finally found something really nice.

I thought of another one today, a bit cheesy but I like their music:
They get a little screamy sometimes but I like their songs when they stay away from that.






Pretty Reckless is pretty awesome too- I would put them a bit more in the hard rock vs metal genre though.

I'm sure a lot of you have seen this but even so, it's worth another 3 minutes of your time. Freaking hilarious skit from Jim Breuer about heavy metal versions of kids' songs.

I heard this the other day for the first time since the 90s probably.

Realized it's pretty much a System of a Down song before SOAD was around.

I watched some documentary on then the other day.

I had no idea they were thst young when they started to break out, nor thst they went through so many line up changes.

Ok I just realized spit came out in 2000. I would swear that was when I was in high school, but apparently not.

So yeh, they weren't even before SOAD debut.
