Just signed up for Hulu free trial to watch this. Later tonight. My expectations are not high given that I've found nearly every previous Predator-related movie to have not been that great (exceptions being Predator with Arnie and despite what many on here will say, I loved the comic book Alien Versus Predator).

Dropped this morning at 2:00 a.m. central, which wasn't terribly conducive to catching it last night.

Looking forward to the poster reviews.

How did the dog's tail trigger the trap? That was some lame "we want to hurt the dog but not really" writing.

i started it a bit this morning before work.. for those looking to be outraged, there will be your eyerolling feminist moments of course, which is hilarious in a movie that took place well before women's suffrage was even a thing, but i digress. they've avoided any mary suing.

but i liked the pacing and where they're headed before i had to get into the office.

I like Predator 1, AVP, and Predators. Those are the only ones i'll watch again. Predator 2 is fine, but not something i care to watch on purpose.

I only saw Predators once, so perhaps I should give it another watch. Predator 2 was meh overall, not a bad movie but like you, not one I typically seek out. Although I did always love that Easter egg aboard the ship at the end with the skull collection.

Adrien Brody and Braga are the weak points to Predators as neither are that believable. They're also the only "moral compases", but Walt Goggins, Topher Grace, Fishbourne, Mahershala Ali, and Trejo are all so good as "not-good people you're cheering for."

It's all good. I've seen it before. For whatever reason, it didn't work for me at the time.

Predator: A+, one of the greatest action movies of all time.

Predators: B-, good movie, worth the price of admission, but not enough to get me to watch it again.

Everything else: crap

So this might sound dumb, but it's actually a really pretty movie. Lots of overhead and wide panning wilderness shots (filmed up in Alberta) and the soundtrack is very Last of the Mohicans-esque.

I enjoyed it.

i'm to the point in my movie watching career where i get excited about scenery in more outdoorsy movies.

i know it's not popular, but Terror on the Prairie was a beautifully shot movie.

Agree. Gorgeous scenery. The movie itself is not bad and about what one would expect. I didn't sense a woke mentality regarding the lead character, but at the same time I've never bought into the idea that - generally speaking - females can whip males twice their size, whether it be this gal or Black Widow. I guess I didn't hear an explanation for the flowers that had the same effect on a predator's ability to see prey as did mud.

She said something early on about how they cool the blood down? Which was supposed to help the kid that got cut up by the lion. Dumb but that's what she said.

That was legitimately entertaining, I enjoyed it way more than I expected. Lots of homage to the original, but not a repeat. I saw the trailers and thought it would be terrible, I was pleasantly surprised. I don't understand any of the pre or post-release outrage, it's an action movie about an alien hunting people, relax.

I agree with this rating. Really enjoyed Predators.

This new one (just watched it) could've been cooler. Too much She-Ra warrior princess crap which was entirely unbelievable as alien predator movies go. I did like the predator 2 callback at the end.

The dialog was fairly eyerolling at the beginning. They sounded like a bunch of california teenagers.

But overall, yeah, I give it a solid C-. It was worth watching once if you're a predator fan

What's the Predator 2 call back that I missed? I'm drawing a blank.

I saw a Predator call back if it bleeds, we can kill it.

Thought the movie was entertaining. Better movie than the last one, but I think the last one was more fun. The predator was a total badass the entire time in this one though.

I didn't mind it. It was what it was…a Predator movie in a different setting. There were some cool scenes and some terrible ones.

The CGI was really bad. I don't know if that's a budget issue or something in Hollywood world but it was ridiculous.

I'm usually not a "timeline" guy but the Buffalo slaughter seemed weird and out of place. It played zero part in the movie, nothing to do with the story line, etc.

The mountain lion portions were beyond terrible.

I liked this Predator. The weaponry seemed "old school", the shield was a nice bit, the helmet was unique, etc.

For as many times as the animals hurt it (wolf bite, bear got some legit damage in) it seemed to recover quickly.

The trappers automatically knowing what the Predator was up to seemed really rushed. But so did the trapper and Comanche woman speaking English to each other so…

Right…that's an Arnold line from the original. I'm trying to think what the P2 call back would have been.

Well I thought that could have been a lot worse. It didn't get too far out over it's skis. It's a Predator film and that's ok. Fun little movie.

Ahh good call. I had it in my brain that it was a musket in P2. I had totally forgotten it was a pistol. That makes way more sense now with their zoom in on the weapon when it was shown

That's actually not a bad connection to the older movie and decently well played.

The buffalo were in their to show that the French were closer to the predator than the Indians.

I think the Buffalo were just a misdirect - you assume it's more Predator, but there are also trappers out there that are a threat to her.

I enjoyed it. It was a well done action movie that was beautifully shot . Which I think might be it's problem.

It was well done enough and was pretty enough that you could forget it was a straight to streaming 6th installation of a film franchise that started with 2 future governors playing the leading roles, and not "the revenant meets the predator".

Sure the dialogue was a little to contemporary, sure the cgi wasn't perfect, but thats ok. It was a fun movie that we enjoyed.

I did try watching the Comanche dubbed version and like almost all dubbed movies it was terrible.

So I guess that implies that another predator will come along later and kill her.

I guess so.

Reading a few things online apparently during the closing credits some of the background art showed that three other ships were flying into the area. That's either implying that they came to hunt as well or they came to pick up the one that died. It also pointed out that Billy (first film) was Comanche as well and that part of his intuition might have been regarding his tribe's history with them. That would point to other Predators possibly interacting with the tribe over the subsequent 200+ years. Plenty of time to obtain that weapon if all of that aligns.

But let's be frank: plot holes galore in this series would allow for that type of film cross pollination to be in there and not have to make any sense at all
jeffk

The ratio of Predators killed by their own weapons has to be above 75% at this point right?
