HBO Max app is visually appealing but it errors out on Apple TV a lot and has some annoying QOL issues. Prime app is literally the worst app ever. Netflix is still the easiest to use with the most QOL features, but it can feel cluttered and overwhelming on the home screen.
Netflix App has no easily accessible way to search by category. Sure, when you scroll down on the Home screen it'll start suggesting random made-up categories that you have to then scroll through laterally one by one in random order...."Gritty War Movies" or "Irreverant Buddy Comedies".
I want a 1 or 2 click way to get to a screen that separates movies into simple categories and lists them alphabetically...."Comedies", "Dramas", etc. Thats the simpliest most straightforward way to search when you don't know exactly what you want to watch, and HBO Max does that.
And don't know about the AppleTV issues (likely because Apple just sucks and intentionally makes it hard for non-Apple products to interface with their Apple products), but its been a long time since HBOMax crapped out on me. And I had no problem downloading and watching a movie on their app just a month ago.
