Very sad. When I was little, she pretty much set the template for what became my type.
Ive mentioned it here before, but a very interesting life, her grandfather won a Nobel prize in physics, she had the BF who disappeared (which may or may not have been on purpose), the koala blue business that went broke, the iconic grease, let's get physical, Xanadu…

I was a member of Town Hall, which, back when dinosaurs walked the campus, was the MSC group that put on concerts at A&M.
So I worked (ushered, etc) when she was live in concert at G. Rollie White BB arena. She was every bit as cute and charming on the stage, as she was in any movie or TV appearance. She seemed to enjoy the crowd, and when someone "whooped" at her, she tried to copy it back. Brought down the house.
Just a wonderful concert, and if I wasn't in love with her before, I was after.
Rest in Peace, dear lady.

A great talent in many ways. She was at the height of her popularity when I got into music as a kid. Hearing her on the radio is a vivid memory. Rest in peace, Olivia.

Saw her in concert many years ago at the HLSR in the Astrodome. Sad to see she's passed.
Xanadu. Terrible film with fun songs. Was on cable a ton in the early 80's.

Her cancer had spread, as well. In 2018, she had cancer at the base of her spine. It's amazing that she lived this long. She had a tough fight. I admit I've seen Grease probably 25 times. My kids had sleepovers and would play it endlessly. I know every word to every song.

Very sad news, although it seems like we're seeing a lot of our entertainment idols die as the bulk of them are into their 70s.
Here's how ONJ warped me: I spent all of my single years looking for a bookworm, good girl, with whom I would be proud to share a family and partner with through all of life's trials and tribulations. But also, she should be able to disappear with Frenchie for a bit and transform into a porn star at any time.

My mother took my sister and me to see Grease in the theater. We stopped at Kmart on the way home and got the soundtrack (on vinyl). My sister played that dang record more times than I care to remember.
I didn't see "Grease" until I was an adult, but Olivia Newton John had a special place in my heart ever since I heard her breathy voice on "I Honestly Love You" on AM radio.
She also covered one of my favorite Barry Gibb-penned songs, the country-flavored "Come on Over."

Never realized she was older than John Travolta.
She was one of my first crushes (first was definitely Carrie Fisher). I recall never wanting to see Grease, but went to see it several months after it came out and to my surprise, I loved it. Mostly because of her. She was cute and she had a great singing voice. I remember liking in in Xanadu but hating that movie.

I only admit this on message boards, but I always thought that was such a cool scene. The guys shuffling down and dancing on the bleachers, the great ONJ and cool JT, the Rizzo kick of Patty Simcox and ONJ off the table, the comb flick, and Danny Zuko pose while holding on the last "Night" that inspired Lin-Manuel Miranda so much that he used it that image for the logo on "Hamilton".
(Of course, that factoid about Hamilton is made up, but I just think of Danny Zuko seeing summer nights anytime I see the Hamilton logo)
I was at that concert. She was having a good time with us and the guys were loving her.
