Hybrid Theory was definitely my favorite album throughout high school. Left the CD in my dad's car one day and couldn't find it for several days; he finally admitted he had ejected it, rolled down his window, and threw it onto the highway. I went out the same day and bought it again, of course.

I was 9 when HT was released. I thought it was amazing. A fellow 3rd grader took it from his older brother and played it for everyone at recess. As another poster stated, it was basically the start of my journey listening to music that wasn't my parents or major pop stars like *NSYNC.

I hardly listen to LP these days and I would say I probably like the songs for the nostalgia factor more than anything (9 year old me was a bit off with amazing) but I'll always appreciate them as my first favorite band

I left the CD player out one day and my mom decided to listen to it. When I got home from school she sat me down and said she was taking the CD away because of the shut up lyrics in one step closer. I could have it back when I was older. Pretty sure I just limewired it or whatever people used in 2000-01

Nah bro. If you want to see something that will give you chills and make you really sad, watch this one:

For those of you who somehow don't know this and need a summary or explanation before you click play, this is Linkin Park playing "Crawling" live, and half way through the song, Chris Cornell comes out of nowhere and starts singing the second verse (from what I have gathered about this, Chester did not even know he was there until he walked out on stage). Then they sing together for the remainder of the song. I am not a Linkin Park fan, but I am a Chris Cornell fan. Chris and Chester were best friends, and there is much speculation that Chester killed himself in part out of grief and depression over Chris committing suicide 2 months earlier.

Edit to add: Chester Killed himself on what would have been Chris Cornell's birthday.

Didn't the singer for the Cranberries do the same because of Chester's death?

Because it doesn't exist. She accidentally drowned while taking a bath after taking a lot of drugs.

If you have EVER suffered from mental illness, Chester, Mike and Chris are your hero's, especially if you were class of 89-95, grunge era.

Just listen to the lyrics. Similar interests and angst.

Sorry to kill this conversation.
Mental illness is real and these are the songs that kept me alive during period of my life.
If you feel that way, find your music, find your friends that you can open up the and rely on. It saved my life, t hope that it saves yours too.

Back in 2015 when they did Rock in Rio USA in Vegas, I saw Linkin Park open for Metallica.
As others have said, the LP fans really loved them.
Personally, I didn't care about seeing LP but, my young work colleague from Russia only wanted to see LP and didn't care about Metallica nearly as much. His girlfriend didn't care about either band and only wanted to do shots.

Great show but at the time obviously we had no idea it would be one of LP's final shows in the USA.

And if you want to talk about singers, what goes on in their heads and suicide, it's very real. Such a long list in the past decade - Jani Lane, Brad Delp, Chester, Chris Cornell, etc. It's tragic.

Damn. As a massive fan of both LP and Soundgarden, as well as Cornell's solo stuff, that video breaks my heart.
