It's really dated. Like, super dated.

It's hard to watch.
So you fall into the second category. Got it.

This thread has me thinking....

Why are there so few great football movies, but there are a ton of great baseball movies? Football is heads and shoulders more popular than baseball in the US.

One theory: It's easy to fake an actor being good at baseball. It's completely believable that Kevin Costner, Robert Redford, or Gina Davis could be good at baseball. It is damn hard to fake an actor being good at football. When you see a supposedly NFL quality football team in a movie, it looks like A&M could crush them. So you have to really suspend disbelief.

I think a sport that suffers this problem even more is soccer. Can you imagine a movie about Messi? Nobody else can do what he does/did. They would have to show real footage and then somehow stick the actors head on top of Messi's. It would look ridiculous. Especially if they show early footage that is all blurry. I cannot think of a single decent soccer movie off the top of my head.

I just looked it up, and boxing movies definitely are more critically acclaimed. I guess haven't seen a whole lot of them. It seems the most award winning sports movie of all time is Million Dollar Baby followed by Chariots of fire (which I think is boring as crap).

The Blind Side only has one academy award win and 1 nomination. And it is the top football movie. Baseball looks to be #2.
I'm picturing people who vote for awards for movies, Academy of Motion Picture Arts, Golden Globes, whoever...

I'm thinking that they all had some personal exposure to football somewhere. Mabye in junior high, high school, boarding school, college. Maybe their dad tried to get them to play pee-wee when they were 10. If they're a girl, maybe some high school football player hit on her at prom after she looked so hot in the school play.

Whatever the case, there's a good chance that the people who are the elite of the elite in the Acting and Theater Industry just don't like football. Johnny Manziel is dating Instagram models, not Kristin Stewart. Even Tom Brady could only score a model who never acted. I doubt there was ever a team of boxers picking on the kids in One Act Play.

The opening speech in Johnny B Good is better than any of these movies.

"The lord wants you to put your foot on their balls and believe in it. Because that's what wins football games. Not jumping offsides like a bunch of wimps and ******s."

"every girl you ever had a hard on for is gonna be out there today but you will not be going to no sock-hop tonight boys, you will not get no honey on your stinger if you don't go out there and bust your ass."
I love the movie, but it is pretty bad. But not many B movies can boast a cast that includes Iron Man, The Bride / Mia Wallace and Mr. Vernon in supporting roles.

You do know that Tom Brady dated and has a child with Bridget Moynahan, right? Brady was also linked to Tara Reid before both Bridget and Gisele.

I imagine the issue with football movies has more to do with worldwide marketability. US Football isn't anywhere near as popular around the world as boxing, baseball, or basketball. Either way, your post is super weird.

What elite of the elite in Acting/Theatre have had serious relationships with stars of other sports in significant numbers which would support this premise? In other words, we've seen a number of excellent baseball movies over the years, what are all the actresses dating baseball player couples?

Holy crap, this thread went dark AF. I've been here since the mods were in elementary school, and this will be my first deleted thread. Its been fun. I'd like to get a list of all the football movies named before the Mods delete, however. There are some good movies I forgot about. Wildcats, excellent!
