biggest problem I had with the movie:

"hey, let's DESTROY A 300 YEAR OLD PRICELESS WORK OF ART TO EMBARASS THE BAD GUY!!"

Anyone seen the movie Murder Mystery on Netflix with Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston and Luke Evans?

That's the movie I thought I was watching as well. Seemed well set up for Norton's character to start picking them off.

Now that would have been interesting but I think after the 2nd or 3rd kill it would be painfully obvious what was going on and for Blanc to just react bewildering would have been out of character.

Now if Rian had scrapped most of the stuff with Andi and played it straight up as a mash-up of Ten Little Indians and Last of Sheila that could have some interesting possibilities. Also, play Norton as an evil genius rather than an idiot where Blanc doesn't know the backstory of anyone.

Murder on the Orient Express and Murder Mystery (Adam Sandler movie) are better than Glass Onion.
I've seen Murder on the Orient Express and liked it, I'll check out the other.
Skip Death on the Nile though, it's just plain awful. Go watch the original Death on the Nile, still not great but much better than this version.

Yeah, I'm always longing for more remakes/reboots.

If we're taking GOATs in the genre, how about "Murder By Death"

Peter Falk
Peter Sellers
Maggie Smith
Truman Capote
Alex Guinness
David Niven

So funny to read critics from Texags. Some are good; some are awful. Roger Ebert would cringe…

Kate Hudson has taken a beating.

I still miss Ana de Armas but Janelle Monae

B+

Enjoyed the ride.

I would destroy the Mona Lisa if it meant destroying the evil idiot that killed my sibling.

It's even better than killing him.

Enjoyed it, laughed a lot, but nowhere near as clever as the first one.

That dumb ending was, well, really dumb.

Not nearly as good as the first one. Ending was dumb. Still enjoyed it though

Enjoyed the first Knives Out, this one was incredibly predictable and disappointing.

Loved the first movie, but 30 minutes into Glass Onion and this is not doing anything at all for me so far. I just don't buy that any two of these people would ever be friends, it's not remotely funny, and the Covid setting/references feel so needless and dated. Really hoping it gets better from here…

Half of me wants to stay up another 2 hours to see the final responses, because this could go anywhere.

Another 30 minutes in and this is playing like a first draft Johnson wrote on the fly. Ha, I'm gonna need a break before I finish the next hour and twenty minutes (!), so I wouldn't bother staying up…

The movie plays out like an homage to a lot of different mystery films.

Entertaining, but not anything anyone will remember in 2 months.

Finally finished this, and the second half is a lot better than the first. Such an incredibly forced (and overly long) setup, I still maintain that not a single two of those people would be friends, and Johnson's humor is just not funny at all, IMO, but I mostly enjoyed it in the end, if only for how absurd it gets. Definitely not on par with the first movie, though.

I thought this was very subpar (I'm guessing i can't help but compared to the first one, which was much better).

Rian Johnson makes an alright film. Same as JJ Abrams. Never really loved one of either director - usually 7 or 8/10, IMO.

We watched it last night. It was eh. Not bad enough to turn it off but not good enough to recommend to someone else to watch.

There were a few moments when I smiled but nothing I thought was really funny.

And I really struggled to get past James Bond doing a Foghorn Leghorn voice.

Made it short of halfway thru. The characters and acting were cartoon level. Kate Hudson basically playing the most 1980s Goldie Hawn of Goldie Hawn characters. The meathead with the gun in the pool. And Craig's accent in this series is so ridiculous

Saw this last night. It was a fun movie. I LOL'd when Helen walked into the house guest guy's room and he was smoking weed with Little River Band's Cool Change playing on his stereo. Nice touch.

Have you never seen Clue? Pink Panther films?

I didn't love the movie by any stretch, first one was definitely better.

But I feel like people aren't really understanding the genre. The characters are supposed to be caricatures.

At least 20-30 years ago. Pretty meh itself. I get the genre but lame is still lame. Maybe I should clarify with "not entertaining" caricatures.

Completely missing the point of the movie. You're SUPPOSED to make fun of the characters. Don't take it so seriously.

The movie is trash. The characters are caricatures and the plot ultimately is dumb. That's the POINT. don't worry about any of that.

Kidding of course and yes I understand where you're coming from but the further I get away from watching it the less I care about any of the points it (maybe) was trying to make.

My biggest problem was the "twist." There was very little to point to it up until that point and it seemed like a contrived convenience for Andi to have a twin.. Even then, Bron seemed like such a narcissistic idiot that it was painfully obvious he was some kind of villain. There wasn't nearly as much suspense and misdirection as the first, and it nothing about it was really clever at all.

I think it's inappropriate to hold certain movies to a different standard of genre than it was intended for. That's like saying that you don't like Austin Powers the Spy Who Shagged Me because there are plot holes in the time travel element. Just relax and enjoy the damn movie.

I have no issue admitting when I'm in agreement with someone I generally dislike. This was pretty close to my exact thoughts on this movie.

I just watched this last night. I thought it was good. Surprised to see how many on here didn't like it. It's not a film meant to be taken seriously. The cameos were fun. Just a lighthearted comedy with a bit of mystery thrown in.
