David Bowie is notorious for stuff like this. I can't believe he didn't catch more flack for stealing music from PDiddy and Vanilla Ice.
True. But in fact, as you can see here, Vanilla held no malice toward Bowie as they are really completely different songs:

An early 90s obscure cut, but the Green Jello song 3 little pigs has Danny Carey on drums, and Maynard doing the 'not by the hair on my chinny chin chin' line.

On Alice in Chains' untitled track #10 from Dirt, Tom Araya screams the 'I am IronGland' line.

Who doesn't know that?
Yep, everyone should know that.

There is a little more there though, about Eddie changing the solo up and not knowing if Michael was gonna be plssed or happy about it.

Had always heard EVH did it on the first take.

What other unknown guest spots are lurking out there? I know Mick Jagger sings background on Carly Simon's You're So Vain and John Lennon is on Fame by David Bowie.
Taylor Hawkins was her drummer back in those days as well.
For the live shows. I don't believe he ever recorded with her.

The story I've always heard was that he did two takes but I think they ended up going with the first.

Great thread. Love this stuff.

It seems out of place, but rocker Joe Walsh produced Dan Fogelberg's second album, "Souvenirs." This was in Walsh's pre-Eagle days, but Don Henley, Glenn Frey and Randy Meisner all make appearances on the album, as does Gerry Beckley from America and Graham Nash.

This was back in the early days of the LA country rock movement and there was a lot of collaboration, especially among Irving Azoff's clients. The Eagles show up on a lot of Fogelberg's early albums, along with David Lindley from Jackson Browne's band, several members of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band, J.D. Souther, etc., etc.

Chuck D's voice is based on Marv Albert, he loved the way he sounded calling basketball games, tried to emulate that while rapping.

This might not be completely on topic, but I recently learned that the band The Aquabats, a band that Travis Barker was a part of before joining Blink-182 (after touring with them) would eventually create Yo Gabba Gabba -- the kids TV show. The Aquabats were the shows band.

Mark Mothersbaugh, of Devo, was a regular.

And the list of bands is amazing

The Killers
Weezer
My Chemical Romance
Weird Al

Is just a select few
Plus Jason Bateman and Anthony Bourdain

We may have watched that show over and over again. Even seeing them in concert where Biz Markie performed.

One of the coolest shows for little kids

I tried to count all the songs I know of that Michael McDonald sings backup on, but I'm a liberal arts major. I can't count that high.

I'm still amazed that Allison Krauss sings on two songs on the new Def Leppard album.
Michael McDonald is who I thought of. When you hear his silky smooth vocals on backup you know you're about to be transported into soft rock nirvana.

Duane Almond helped Clapton finish off Layla. Clapton wanted to record it in the jazzy 90's style but Duane showed him the iconic Layla riff. Ended up playing and singing on it and that is when Clapton decided to record under Derek and The Dominos, instead of his name.
