And no, you won't change my mind. So many absolute timeless songs and covers in a medium that has much more staying power than the standard nirvana songs. I feel like you feel a lot more of the emotion in the songs in unplugged as well. Just a great album.

Most overrated band of the past 40 years. OK, maybe second to ****ty Green Day.

Agreed. Always thought it was an all time great album. Can't tell you how many times I've listened to it all the way through.

Radiohead is easily the most overrated band.

Celebrity Skin album is criminally underrated.

I think it was around the time of the Foo Fighters' second album or so, but I remember a radio DJ saying "here's a song by Dave Grohl's new band, that's actually better than his old band. But you're not allowed to say that." Made me chuckle.

All of Nirvana's albums are great. Incesticide has some awesome tracks. Different from their other stuff. Best band in the last 30 years. I'm more of a fan now than I was in the 90s.
Let's go, Brandon!

Freely admit I've only heard what was on the radio for unplugged. I've always hated The Man Who Sold the World and All Apologies. Because I hated those singles I've never bothered to listen to the album.

Truth be told - I loved Nevermind and Bleach, didn't care for In Utero other than Heart Shaped Box and Rape Me.

Why do you hate the man who sold the world? Admittedly I have never heard the original, so that obviously skews my opinion of the song as it isn't changing something im already used to.

In Utero is my favorite Nirvana album, but I did wear out the Unplugged CD with a many of drives between College Station and Dallas in my youth.

Anytime someone does some kind of list of the greatest whatever in music they always talk about Nirvana like they were the Beetles. I know they were a big band but it always seems a little overstated.

I honestly couldn't say - just something about the song I've never like - not a fan of the odd distortion and timber on his acoustic I think is the primary reason. Also the melodies/hooks in it have just never appealed to me.

Nirvana and Sopranos are similar in that they created a sea change in consumer entertainment. You can view Nirvana as not as good compared some band that came later just like people say Sopranos doesn't hold up. Mad Men, Breaking Bad, etc. Don't happen without the sopranos.

People don't actually like Radiohead. They just like to say they like Radiohead.

Nirvana was industry-changing.
Pearl Jam was better than Nirvana.

Both can be true.

And I agree with the OP.

1 step further. Everything you said plus Purple by STP is a more complete album than anything Nirvana or Pearl Jam ever made. More complete in that literally every song on that album is spectacular.

It's not necessary to say one band is better than the other when they're all phenomenal in their own ways.

PS - Radiohead is outstanding and a very important group to me.

Personally, I'd rank Purple as my second favorite grunge album behind Ten. I think every song on Ten is great.

As far as Nirvana goes, I don't think they are overrated because of their importance to music history, but I'm not a huge fan of their music outside of their radio staples. I put them 4th behind the other big 3 Seattle grunge bands.

The other 3 Seattle grunge acts being Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, and Soundgarden?

I've really been revisiting Soundgarden and AIC lately, and my goodness they are amazing. "Like Suicide" may be a top 5 grunge song for me.

So we are talking about Pearl Jam?

I think Vs. is better than Ten. But Ten is better than most albums of the early 90's

I do not want people to be very agreeable, as it saves me the trouble of liking them a great deal.
