punk bands are almost never good at playing their instruments or singing live BUT they offset that by putting on a great show

its cool that blink-182 is reforming and will be interesting to see if Tom still has it, because he was almost always the worst part about the live show like you were talking about

I'd have to exclude some of the drummers from this.
Tre cool, Travis barker, they are pretty damn precise at those faster tempos and fills

I saw 311 and the Offspring 3-4 years ago, and it was an incredible case study on what hard drugs for 20 years vs just weed will do on your body. The Offspring guys all look 25 years older than the 311 guys. And 311 put on a way better show.

Pretty sure none of them ever have been, which is why I found that post weird.

Fun fact, Dexter Holland has a PhD in molecular biology.

I figured it was about 311 and the offspring just smoked weed.

that offspring dude is 10 years older than the old guy in blink. Pushing 15 years older than the drummer and lip ring guy.

Mid 40s to 60 is a big difference in rock n roll.

311 is in better shape because A) they tour almost non stop, B) they smoke more than drink and C) they on a far more active stage show.

Offspring has never moved around the stage like 311 does, even in their younger days.

I'm going to FALL IN LOVE WITH THE GIRL AT THE ROCK SHOW

Last time I saw Blink was Edgefest 2017 in Frisco.

Had the Toadies, Chevelle, 311, The Offspring and Blink 182.

1) I was born in '91 so got exposed late but there is not a better pop punk band than Blink so agreed with the post above

2) the tour with Skiba filling in for Tom was actually a pretty good set

3) still trying to unpackage the hard drugs vs weed comment and what was met, but I saw TBS and 3EB at White Oak a couple months back and couldn't believe how good 3EB looked - especially for a band that's been singling about meth abuse for three decades. No idea what TBS is into but they looked like hammered dog s***

I can't believe how good 3EB is still! He's like 58 and looks better than me haha

hope their live show has improved since 1999. that was a dumpster fire.

I was there too, 3EB was great. Half the crowd was there to see TBS from their high school days, and the rest were us 40-ish year olds reliving 25 years ago.

I sent a video of TBS to a buddy of mine that's a big fan. The newer iPhones are really good with noise isolation, so unfortunately you could hear the lead singer crystal clear, and he was awful.

That festival in Vegas is a open date for Aggie Football. Which probably sealed the deal for me. I'm going to buy two tickets when they go on sale this week.

I have seen blink a ton of times and while they have played some **** shows the one I saw in Austin (20 years ago?) was on par with that live album. Def has been doctored up but that album was recorded on that one tour and it's on point.

Also on the pop punk disaster tour with Green Day someone stole my bike rack off my jeep. ****ers.

Holy crap. $200 for upper level of the American Airlines Center for that show. $400 for down on the floor. And its sold out.

Actually not sold out, but every time they release some seats they're immediately gone.

Got some high up for $80 a piece + an extra $60 in fees from Ticketmaster. How have they not been sued for that fee crap

$250 for some higher up seats

Just bought two tickets to the whenwewereyoung festival. They were $700 for the pair but way cheaper then the regular tour.

Looks like I'm going to Vegas......

Blink will be adding a lot of shows, just wait it out.

Hopefully. I'm sure I can just sell the festival tickets and hopefully prices come down. We don't even know how many seats they are actually releasing at each venue. This could be just stupid pricing with only a quarter of the seats released.

Tom makes a huge difference.

I went to an Angels and Airwaves concert with my youngest daughter. I actually like A&A. We had a great time. Moody Theater, honestly a great concert experience.

But now I'm thirsty for a blink show

Wife was able to snag us a couple of good tickets for $182 a piece after taxes and fees. Coincidence?
We must have been in the first good wave of pricing because everything after us was significantly pricier.
