That Airplane! is practically a complete remake of Zero Hour!. The longest, most subtle joke in Airplane! is that they kept the propeller background noise of Zero Hour! even though Airplane! is set on a jet.

Wow as many times as I have watched Close Encounters I never picked up on that.
Another one that deals with music, in the most recent Jumanji film when it first enters the desert landscape which is the primary setting of the story the theme from Lawrence of Arabia is played briefly (the 38 second mark of the linked clip). I found it cool that someone in the production was on the ball enough to include it although it likely went over the head of most of the film's target audience, For me it was one of the best parts of an overall enjoyable popcorn flick
