Just watched it today.

The overhead shot sequence is an all-time action movie scene. Incredible. Every supporting element in this movie was top tier. Winston, Fishburne, Lance Reddick (RIP), Koji, my mother****in' dawg Donnie Yen, Nobody and his dog, the Osaka set pieces, the different sections of Paris, AND Bill Skarsgard. The runtime didn't feel long either which is a crazy thing to say for a nearly three-hour long action movie.

I loved it so hard.

I thought this was a pretty bad ass movie.

I didn't like how it ended though. Are we okay to do spoilers here?

I purposely did not watch trailers so I could go in surprised. Had no idea Donnie Yen was in this, once he showed up I thought yesssssss! He was incredible as always.

I mean I figure spoiler tags for another week? I think there's not many to discuss anyway except how the movie ends.

For anyone that doesn't know Chad Stahelski's next film is going to be adapting the video game Ghost of Tsushima. It's probably the most beautiful game I've ever played, it's also a lot of fun. The stretch of the movie in Japan really helped show he's the right guy to make a movie about an old-world samurai. He doesn't need guns, he'll be just fine with swords, knives, bows & arrows, nunchucks, or throwing stars.

One of my favorite things about John Wick movies is the nonchalance every techno music loving patron has knowing that John Wick is shooting the club up two feet away from them. They paid that cover charge and they're going to enjoy their night no matter what, dammit.

Yeah, John Wick shoots a bunch of people isn't really a spoiler!

My headcanon is the only people allowed in those clubs are assassins or guests of assassins who know what's up, since they're owned by people in that world. (Like the Red Circle in part 1.)

Plus who'd want to leave when they can rave while watching John Wick merc some fools?

I noticed this too and was laughing inside as I was watching. There were several times though where the people stopped dancing and were backing up in fear of the fighting, at least after the fighting had been going on in the same place for a while. Whenever Wick etc. got to a new room, it was "get your groove on and pay no attention to the guys shooting each other at point blank range right next to you."

Watched it last Friday in a 4DX - DBOX theater. I figured this was the next best thing after IMAX. In the open while he was punching - it shook the whole theater. And his first few rounds sounded like absolute cannons.

Can only echo the previous sentiments - beautifully shot, campy dialogue, insane choreography.
Dunno why we're comparing this to Jenna Ortega's Fallout, but this was a much better action movie than that.

Really liked Mr Nobody and Caine. Bill Skarsgard might've earned the best dressed villain of all time. That man's wardrobe budget must've been at least an 8th of the movie budget.

Apparently Scott Adkins is a big British action star (Killa). (Also - how did Caine know what cards he held?!)

RIP Lance Reddick. "It was an honor, Sir"

This. I was cracking up at watching women Vogueing while some guy right next to them gets a hatchet to the head. And they keep on dancing…

Such an entertaining movie! Donnie Yen killed it. The scene with the motion activated chimes had me rolling.

Saw this comment on Reddit and it made me laugh.

Quote:

Sometimes John Wick worldbuilding is like:

"there exists an old tradition of duels against the High Table - to challenge, you must need the blessing of a crime family, but if you are labelled excommunicado, you must first receive a new crest symbolizing your loyalty to said family"

and sometimes John Wick worldbuilding is like:

"his name is Caine because he has a cane"

Such a fun movie. A tad long though. I think they need to shorten the sequences just a bit.
Also, why didn't anybody say Joe Burrow was in the movie?

Saw it last night; wife and kids love John Wick series. Besides all of us laughing at the Berlin disco-techers ignoring everything until all of a sudden panicking; we all cracked up at the stairs at the end kicking his ass. He fell and fell and fell and fell and fell and…fell and fell and fell…and fell and fell.

I went this morning. I've really enjoyed these movies, and this one was no different. Great action flick, but I think one that carried more emotional punch than the previous two. It has all of the killing we have come to expect in a John Wick movie, but I think the addition of a couple of interesting characters along with the journey he goes on to win his freedom give this one an emotional weight not seen since the first one.

When John said what he wanted on his headstone, I suspected the ending we were going to get.

Biggest laugh-out-loud scene was the dog pissing in the henchman's face.

The action was consistent, but it didn't feel quite as frenetic as the previous movies. Maybe the runtime made it seem less fast-paced to me.

Nah, I think the biggest LOL moment we got was the ridiculous number of stairs John fell down.

All I am going to say about disliking the ending is that he went through a **** load of effort the last two movies to get out from under the table only to just lay down and die at the end. It's not like the Marquis was some big bad guy he had been after and killing him resolved everything.

I saw it as him accepting the consequences for getting his friend in Japan killed while also deciding to let Cain protect his daughter.

he sure did...

also a good thing that he died because i could see this John Wick becoming something like the Fasta nd the Furious franchise and that franchise should have stopped many movies ago.

I'm not so sure he's dead. The grave could be his final attempt at fully getting out and being able to finish his life in peace away from the table without them coming to look for him again…..

I know this is not what the ending showed, but it's kinda how I want to think it ends….
