Why do I keep finding myself making official threads for seemingly lower popular MCU properties?



It was fun for what it was…not sure about anyone else but I always go into any Christmas/holiday special with pretty low expectations…and if you go into this with low expectations you'll be pleasantly surprised.

There were definitely a few moments that got a laugh out of me. When Drax and Mantis found out that Kevin Bacon was an actor got a few good laughs….

Mantis: "We want you to just be Kevin Bacon but a version that doesn't suck!"

Bacon: "Normally that would really piss me off…."

And then there's kind of a surprising one-liner from Nebula towards the end with, "Huh. I guess not all actors are pieces of *****" Yeah that caught me off guard considering this was made specifically for Disney + and was a Christmas Special. Not complaining though.

I was genuinely worried that 2 things would happen….

1. They referenced Footloose so dang much I was convinced they were gonna do the final dance number from it….was very happy that didn't happen.

2. They referenced Bacon dying via arrow to the neck in Friday the 13th…then Kraglin mentions he's trying to get the hang of handling the arrow later on…was sorta hoping he'd whistle and screw up and kill Kevin Bacon the same way….but that's my twisted sense of dark humor….

The biggest point of it though was clearly establishing that Mantis and Quill are brother and sister cause obviously that'll come up in Vol. 3. But this seems like it should have been obvious from Vol. 2 but I can't understand why I feel that way….I've only seen it once and can't remember if they explained Mantis' back story or not in it.

Better than the Star Wars Lego Holiday Special so give it a go

That was great! A lot of fun. The Old 97's song in the beginning was catchy.

Just finished it. Very okay. Not sure we needed it.

Loved it and my mom who is a casual enjoyer of marvel enjoyed it as well. My sister never watched guardians but was laughing as well

That was great. Old 97s we're the highlight and their number should be a legit radio play Christmas song. Gunn has a real gift at range... obviously the whole thing was silly but was so sweet as well.

Kinda funny that she needed Drax to throw her over the gate, and then 5 minutes later she's crawling on walls like Spiderman and jumping 25 feet in the air.

Was nice to see Drax "the destroyer" actually use his strength for once and not be totally useless.

I was surprised that they didn't find his star on the Hollywood walk of fame.

Craftsy cottage industry types are making those little dioramas right this second to sell on Etsy, right?

Mantis was borderline insufferable, but overall I really liked this. It was fun.

Weird take. I think Mantis is great. Always really funny and weird. Pom sells it.

I enjoyed it but teenage Groot seemed a little too bulky and animated, just didn't feel right to me.

Also, Drax is becoming a little too one note for my taste.

To be honest I expected a little more but hey, just saw Glass Onion in the theaters and watched the Andor finale on Wednesday so this was a nice little after dinner mint for my entertainment this week.
