We paid extra for mickeys Christmas party and it was so worth it because so much of the riff raff was priced out
Cool. We figured out by day two that the only way to not go insane was get up early and get early entry hit 2-3 rides than do the non wait time stuff/shows. Go back to the hotel, start drinking in the afternoon, then head back around 5:00 and close a park out. One thing I will say is they don't seem to be in a big hurry to kick you out at night and they keep the rides lines open right up to closing time. The riff raff and fatties are typically crapped out by the evening.

Another theme park thread destroyed by elitist behavior from thousandaires.

One other positive about California is that it's typically open until Midnight. That extra two hours does make a lot of difference in that you can typically hit a lot of rides in the last two hours that have super long waits during the day.

Silver dollar city in Branson and cedar point in Ohio are awesome and not as insane as the Disney/Universal. But also don't have the comics/universes in the same fashion.

I can't imagine this though with young kids in the Texas heat.

Park being geared towards 10 and under is going to probably keep a heavy Harry Potter presence out of it? I'm guessing HP is more popular with older kids.

You'd be surprised how many people are attracted to Universal just because of Harry Potter.

Is that really surprising?

Hearing the park will be targeted for 10 and under is a downer. I think the park will be about the size of Magic Kingdom, which is pretty big for all under 10. Maybe that's just phase 1, and future phases will add real rides.

Also, with Disney owning pretty much every major franchise now, what themes will Universal have that kids will want? Unless they are planning on including Harry Potter World or Nintendo World, I just don't see this being that popular.

Magic Kingdom itself is pretty heavily geared towards ten and under anyway. It's our favorite park for taking grandkids and grandparents with all the gentle rides and things you can do with babies.

Sounds pretty similar to that. Sometimes it's nice to have an easy day of Peter Pan, Small World, Haunted Mansion, etc... In the AC, lines not too bad, all that.

How are you defining not too bad? Or what time of the year are you talking about? We've been in the summer and Christmas multiple times, but have yet to ever see short lines for any of those attractions. I believe I fast passed Peter Pan and Haunted Mansion last trip in addition to the bigger/newer rides like Space Mountain or that Snow White coaster.
