Was at the Houston show also. I'm mid 50s and took wife and teenage kids. I did feel older compared to rodeo crowds, etc. I have seen him before. Was one of the best concerts that I have been to in a long time. Dude is something different from everyone else. My son has done the pit in the past. It gets really hot down there and some of them line up outside mid afternoon in heat and then enter the stadium at 5:00 to be front rows of pit to see Zach come on at 9:15 ... I'm sure there is also some alcohol involved. I think of the "downers" are real and he is super cautious ... probably his military background kicking in.

What I am trying to figure out is if they "prescreen" any of the kids that sing along with him each night to "Going South"? While some are not that great, most are pretty good. I/m just surprised there are not more total failures of picking a teenager out of the crowd to sing and play a guitar to "Going South"?

Many will try and tell you it's not scripted/pre-screened, but it is.

Yeah I can be a big skeptic when it comes to production of things, but my teenagers believe it 100%.

Their theory is that there has been some poor performers with Zach, also the kids with the premade signs asking to sing are really musicians (a non-musician would never put themselves in that position). They also believe that if there was some preselection, fans would have discovered and leaked that on social media.

My skepticism is how they handle the guitar. There is no tuning, no "how is this set up?" .. they simply grab it and play the heck out of it! My kids also state that some of the poor performers are nervous with 50K staring at you and they also do not have a monitor in their ear.

I think it's 100% nerves and no monitor. If your timing is based on what you hear and all you hear is your own echo off the back wall, then your timing is eff'd and you sound like doo doo. Which this poor kid did. He was awful, but no disrespect. But I'm not sure he recovers from that. I'd hang the guitar up for a while and log off social media if I were him.

That was a great show in San Antonio last night. The place was electric, and Zach gave 100% from start to finish.

I'd definitely go see him again.

He is really good. Great songwriter and creates an incredible concert experience. Just enough cool screens and lights to make it a great environment, but nobody on stage has a stylist for their clothes or makeup! He also comes across so sincere and thankful to be there.
