More serious answer though, it's more or less a tie for me among the last 3 MI movies.

I think A Few Good Men is the Cruise movie I have watched the most, followed by The Firm, and that's probably followed by Far and Away.

Clearly, the mid-90s must have been the time of my life when I had the most spare time (pre-kids) to watch his movies on VCR and channel surfing.

While it does not qualify as a "Tom Cruise movie", in terms of amazing Tom Cruise roles, how have we overlooked "Tropic Thunder"? Cruise was awesome in that movie.

I watched A Few Good Men last night and have a question. Why did Tom Cruise ask Demi Moore for a half-dozen boxes of black pens and a half-dozen boxes of red pens as well as a carton of legal pads? Could they possibly write enough stuff in three weeks to use up those supplies? I have a blue pen I've been using for nearly three years.

Yeah... one of those I just kept putting off and never got around to it.

The courtroom scene with Cruise and Nicholson is epic. Nicholson gives such an incredible performance that you only see Col. Nathan Jessup, you don't see him as Jack Nicholson.

Also, Cruise probably peed himself a little when they filmed that scene.

Hard to narrow down to one best movie.

It's a divisive movie as on the other thread clearly some people didn't enjoy it, but I think Vanilla Sky might be his most dynamic role.

Last Samurai, Collateral, and Jerry Maguire are probably my other other picks. As weird as he is in his personal life I truly admire him as an actor.

The Tom Crooze stunt double documentary is his funniest.....It's from Kickin Impossible.

Idk if it's his best.... that for me would probably be Rain Man or Collateral but the one I stop and watch every time I find on TV is The Firm.

Now I know the Grisham book snobs will chime in to say how the film wasn't true to the book or whatever but on its own merits..as a film I really love that movie.

For anyone who was alive in the 90s I don't know how it's even possible to have not seen A Few Good Men. I've seen that and Shawshank probably a dozen times "on accident."
Under the radar, but also one of his best. That and Ferris Bueler's Day Off.

Lol I wasn't saying he was in Shawshank. Just saying Shawshank and a Few Good Men were on TV a whole lot in the 90s and 00s. Impossible not to see.
Let's go, Brandon!

I've never seen it but I'm a little surprised that Born on the Fourth of July hasn't been mentioned.

The thing I love so much about Valkyrie is that you know it's not going to work, but for just a minute there your mind thinks "But what if it does?"

Not to further derail, but Rob Reiner tells this story in a ton of interviews so you've probably heard it before, but I love it.

To think about doing that scene that many times in a row with the same performance is pretty remarkable. Jack Nicholson is one of the all time great actors.

Collateral
I think this is Tom's most underrated performance
AMEN. Jamie Foxx is perfect in it as well, but Tom Cruise knocked it out of the park imo.

This is also one of my fav scenes:

"I said, I think you should tell him to put the gun down before I rip it out of his hand and beat his *****-ass to death with it."

Jamie was good. Not as good as his turn as Mother ****er Jones, but close.
